2007 ls460L motor engine mount replacement
Hello,
I need to get my motor/engine mounts replaced on my 2007 ls460L. I tried searching the forums, but I was unable to find a DIY or tutorial for the 460. I found a couple for the 430 and 400, but the process seems to be different. Apparently, the $2000 labor cost associated with the repair is due to the fact that each shop that I spoke with about the repair stated that the engine has to be removed from the vehicle in order to replace the left and right motor mounts, with the exception of the transmission mount, which looks fairly simple to do. I have the service manual and it confirms that the engine needs to be removed to replace the mounts. However, I would be interested to know if anyone has found any tricks or shortcuts to replace the mounts without removing the engine or something that involves a method that does not take ~15 hours of labor to do?
Thanks and best regards,

Thanks, I just watched it and it looks like it could be done in a fraction of the time the manual states using the method he used at minute 28 of the following video:

Looks like the passenger wheel and the alternator may have to be removed, but that's much better than removing the entire engine. I didn't see them do it on the driver side, but I hope it can be replaced in the same way.
Thanks again for the advice.

I've replaced many an engine mount and never once have I removed an engine from a car. You'll need to remove the weight from the engine mounts which can be done by various methods, engine hoist, jack or jacking poles from below, etc. Seems to me something is fishy with the quote you got because any shop would charge more than $2k to remove an engine.
