Does anyone have a copy of the letter that was sent within the past year or two? I received one, but I can't seem to locate it. I know it's somewhere, but I'd rather not have to find it. It basically stated that they would now replace the glove box, and I think maybe a couple other pieces that they did not replace when I first had some interior panels replaced.

I had my dash and door panels replaced back sometime around 2016-2017, several months after I purchased the car (I even got a discount on the car because of the poor quality interior panels!). I asked if they were going to replace the glove box too, as well as the lower part of the center console (the part that runs alongside the carpet), and they said that was not covered, and it was going to be something like $800 for the glove box.

So I was definitely happy to get the letter saying that they'll now fix it. I took the car to the dealership today and they said they'll look into it, so I hope they say they'll do it without me having to locate the letter. Either way, I would appreciate it if anyone could post a picture of the letter they received. Thanks!

Good luck.

You should take your car to a Lexus dealer before the expiration date of March 31, 2021 for an evaluation under the ZLZ program. A 2009 model year car should be fully covered. If the dealer does not accomodate you, you can contact Lexus corporate customer service for assistance. Request a confirmation on writing either by mail or email.

Anyone have any idea on how I can contact Lexus Corporate (Japan?)
I've scoured the web endlessly..
I live in Lebanon and the General Manager refuses to acknowledge about the existence of this program. My LS460L is suffering

I believe the ZLZ program applied to U.S. cars only. You can try to confirm this by calling 800-255-3987 which is U..S. customer service.

I called a dealership today and they said there would be a $165 inspection charge that would be deducted if the repairs were approved, otherwise I’m on the hook for the bill. Has anyone heard of this? It was like a slap in the face. I booked the inspection with a different dealership through Lexus Corporate. Hopefully they don’t jerk me around like the first dealership did. An inspection fee, are you kidding?

I have not heard of an inspection fee. When I brought my LS460 in the inspection took 5 minutes with the service rep taking a few pics and then everything is uploaded to a website to get corporate approval. If you are within the vin range and have sticky issue you should be approved. My guess is that the other dealer will not charge a fee.

Well, here is my story / experience with the ZLZ recall. <<Long Read>>

I have been reading and keeping up with this post along with many others since I acquired my “gently owned” 2008 LS 460 SWB (25k miles on it) in Dec. 2020. When I acquired the car, the interior still smelled and looked new. Like, seriously, anyone that sat in the car would ask, “...is that the new car smell?” Interior is perfect, All with the exception of one dime-size shiny spot on the passenger door. So despite seeing this thread, I honestly didn’t give it much thought or care.

Well...when my car was with it’s previous owner, the last few years, it went through 1 or 2 dead batteries. Along the way, about 3) three engine cover pins (near the battery cover) were now missing. Not liking the possibility of anything loose / missing under the hood; I searched high and low for pins / clips that fit. All in all, totally pissed at my dead-end search for replacements (couldn’t find anything in the forum either)...I headed to the “stealership”. Well, being my first time at Lexus of Memphis for ownership reasons, I pull into the service area! I hop out and the concierge asks me, “What brings you in today?” I let him know and he informs me that I am in the wrong area but that I can pull my car over one lane due to it not being busy and I can keep it parked there while in the parts depart..

I head to parts...the darn clips are back ordered (but the service guy gives me a tip that Toyota sells the same pins / clips for less and will probably have them in stock). #Bonus.
Before I leave….it pops in my head…”Excuse me, do you look up recalls?” Service Rep. states that he doesn’t but comes around the counter tells me what area to see (Service) and actually escorts me over to the department and introduces me to the service tech. (Forgive me for the details...this was my first Lexus dealership experience).

I ask the service rep has he heard about the ZLZ recall for the LS 460...he chuckles under his mask while his eyes enlarged….”YES SIR...I have!!” I state, “Well, I have a shiny spot on my passenger door...can you check it out?” <<More over the top service to come>>.

He says, “Sure!”, grabs a clipboard and walks with me to my car. I open the passenger door, show him the spot...he too mentions the smell, then he either wrote it down or asked someone to scan the vin...can’t remember. All in all, we go back to his desk, he looks up the vin and says “Yep...it qualifies!” He then asked if I was in a rush and if not, he was going to have someone come and take pictures. Told me to browse around for about 15-20 and they should be done. 15 - 20 minutes pass….he types a bunch of stuff in his PC. He then states that the VIN actually qualifies for 9 parts!! I’m thinking to myself to say..”but I just need the door panel!”...of course I immediately tell myself…”Keep your BIG MOUTH shut!!”..LOL

All in all, he states they will call me when they get final approval from corporate and that the entire process could take a few weeks to a few months to hear something back. Me, in all honesty, it wasn’t that big a deal. I was more amazed at the customer service.

It was Tuesday when I went into the dealership about the engine cover clips and abruptly was placed on the ZLZ list; so I was shocked to hear the Lexus rep on my voicemail that same week...Thursday! His message was simply to call him when I could. Thinking to myself while dialing…”them folks looked at those pictures and are kicking my behind off that list”..LOL

Well gosh darn it..surprised again!! He informs me that he has double good news. My parts were approved and not only approved...they have all 9) parts in stock ...MATCHING my interior color, my exact interior!!. A owner in West Memphis was on the ZLZ list but had an accident in his Lexus and his car was in the shop. He failed to return a few calls to Lexus, so the interior parts were now just sitting in the parts department. So I made an appointment to drop off my car on Monday, they provided a loaner, they called me Tuesday that it was ready and I picked up my 460 with all new door panels (4), complete Dash, some underdash / glove box panels and sides of center console panels all replaced!!

That was in January and I am still shocked!!

Big shout out to Lexus of Memphis / Lexus for the outstanding customer service!! Anyone in the Memphis / Midsouth area, that dealership may be worth the drive for good ZLZ treatment.

Left the plastic on for a few days

I got my car inspected today for the ZLZ recall and the service advisor showed me on a piece of paper where all of the items on the list to be photographed were marked as “needing replacement”. Every category in the ZLZ recall was marked that way. To those of you who may know, has Lexus overruled a dealership before and only chose a few things on the list?
The dealer I went to didn’t try to Mickey Mouse me this time with a $164.50 inspection fee, which is good at least. And they washed my car too which is nice, although I had to sit in their waiting area for over an hour.

Nope...Not my experience, sailed right on through. From my initial inspection to approval and appointment, from my experience, I don't think they contacted corporate. Unless they (corporate) replied immediately or the next day.

Haven't read of anyone being overruled or changed. Someone else may be able to chime in though.

I went in for this a few weeks ago for my 2011. While waiting on them to "take pictures" they came and said they had the dash in stock. Couple of days later, 3 door panels came in and console panels. All replaced but still waiting on the passenger front door and glove box. Couldn't be happier with my experience at Sewell Lexus of Fort Worth, TX.

Default 08 is250 rwd still covered?

So I found out about the SSC ZLZ from Scotty's 08 is250 awd video. Spoke to the owner of that car and he said Lexus Corp told him he qualifies and he was able to schedule an appointment at the dealer and they approved it. When I called Corp for my 08 is250 rwd they said mine expired 2018 and didn't qualify for the ssc! Can someone explain this? Is it awd or rwd thing!? 10yr from first use?(04/08/08) My doors are so nasty! Thanks for any info guys.
