2016 LS 460 F Sport Vs 2019 ES 350 F Sport
Hi All,
It's been awhile. My time for a new car is coming up.. Probably May of this year or so. Currently I'm in a 2007 IS 250, and would like to stick within the Lexus family (huge fan).
That being said, while i was at the dealer yesterday, we went over some options. I'm leaning towards two options- a 2015/2016 LS 460 F sport, or a 2019 ES 350 F sport. I just wanted to hear your thoughts on these and which you would choose if given the same choice. the ES is obviously newer and has more to it, new body style, technology, etc. The LS is a bit older, still great looking, and is well... an LS.
I was never a fan of the older ES's as they seemed like an old man's car to me, so initially I completely discounted the idea of going this route, but I do have to say that they did an excellent job with the recent update.
I have always been a huge fan of the LS 460's and now the 500's but I simply cannot afford one brand new.
Thoughts?

The new ES is a great car, but its not as great a car as an LS460. The LS is smoother, quieter, more substantial feeling and goes down the road with more poise. The interior materials are much better in the LS as well. The V8 is much smoother and more refined, and overall the car feels more special. I also greatly prefer the RWD architecture vs FWD.
With that said, tech is better in the new ES, you have Apple CarPlay, Alexa integration, etc. Its also new, which is worth a lot IMHO...
If you don't mind a used car, the LS is more car.

Just had a new ES350 as a loaner for 4 days while my 08LS460 was at the dealer.
I'm really glad to have my LS back. The ES felt nice but more like a jazzed up camry, whereas the LS feels like a true luxury car.

Having driven both the new Avalon and the ES, I would get the ES. The car is better looking, classier, better made, slightly more comfortable, better warranty, better dealer service.

I have 2015 LS Fsport, and just spent five or six hours driving my sister's new ES over Christmas. They're completely different. The LS is a land yacht that needs that big V8. The ES feels much more connected to the road--the suspension is firmer, the steering is firmer. I'm probably going to get flamed for saying this, but in my mind the ES seems like a younger person's car--more fun to drive, but not as quiet or luxurious as the large LS. I thoroughly enjoyed driving the ES, but I also enjoy the quiet and extra space of my LS. The LS is definitely going to use more gas, if that matters. My advice would be to drive both for longer than a short test drive and see which you prefer.

2019 Avalon doesn't drive as well as a 2015 ES or 2019 ES. I was looking for one for my daughter and ended up getting her a 2015 UL ES350. Also the interior of the Avalon is not as good as the Lexus.
