Yes I'm speaking of the mark up.
ONLY way that price would make sense is if they included the brake booster that retails at the dealerships for $900 wich they didn't.
My personal experience here in Tampa is this for the accuator ONLY Lexus of Tampa Bay sells the updated accuator/ part number 44050-50170 for $1,800.
However Lexus of Wesley Chapel wich is about 25 miles down the street sells the same accuator with matching part number for $1,167.
So yes like I said his dealership robbed him blind, here in Tampa,Fl if you go to the wrong dealership the Tampa one they'll take you to the bank and over charge you.
It tends to happen all the time.
The dealerships are owned by private owners just like a fast food franchise. 👍

Due to this part failing, I reluctantly sold my perfect running LS460 Sept 2019. I've been stalking my old car on the Lexus Drivers site, so far the new owner has not had to change it !!
. He has only went to my local Lexus dealer to fix a door actuator from an accident.
I did regular brake reservoir flush and fills at the same time as oil changes and replaced the original the rubber gasket for the reservoir to improve the seal to keep out moisture and air. I guess this helped to prolong the life of the actuator.
I wanted to move on to a 2013+ LS460 but the boss said "no"
. I held off and got a 2006 Toyota Camry V6 in great condition as a beater. It ended up being the most stress free car I have ever owned. The perfect car for these crazy times.

I just got a 2010 with 79k and brakes feel fine, no noises that I can tell are brake related (still getting used to all the noises this thing makes), just some slight vibration that feels like warped rotors.
I don't see any indication of issues or replacement of the actuator in the service history but now I'm worried it will leave me stranded. It seems from some searching that it's not advisable to replace a perfectly working actuator but do these failures have any warning? Can I trust the car to go on a long road trip? I will be doing a brake flush soon once I get my techstream situation figured out but I just want to know if I should preemptively order the replacement parts if this is an inevitable failure.
I come from an LS430 that I had for 7 years and got rid of in 2020. So far im really please with the car but I do have some trust issues now.

It seems that the actuator becomes gradually noisy and typically doesn't suddenly fail. At your mileage, it's unlikely to be a problem for quite some time. Besides flushing brake fluid, do the coolant too. Plugs are good to over 100k. Warped rotors can be an issue that the LS is prone to when lugs are overtightened. Rock Auto is a good place to get non OEM rotors and pads. Many members have done so and report less dust. Be sure to check control arms and other suspension parts as the LS is heavy and rough on these components.

Alright I appreciate that info. I pushed the brakes as hard as I could in the parking lot and didnt hear anything. I was scared though...
Car has a new radiator according to carfax so I assume coolant was changed but I should do it anyway. Both fuel pumps are leaking so I bought all the gaskets to fix those and figured I would do the valve cover gaskets and spark plugs as well since it seems like i'm already most of the way there. Control arm bushings all seemed good but havent jacked car up yet. From the floor its all very clean underneath and this has been a California and Arizona car it's whole life which was a selling point for me.
