Question Buying advice : 2007 LS 460 with 140k Miles

Hi, I am looking to buy my first Lexus and I found a 140k mile LS 460 with all the service history for 10k. Private seller. It looks like he is willing to negotiate on the price. will see the car tomorrow and getting inspected at the Lexus dealer near by. Here is the link to the add

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/pen/cto...768344722.html,

Anything I should be looking specifically when I see the car tomorrow. What do you all think about the high miles (140k)? I am a little concerned about it.

Appreciate any feedback

Thank you!

MMR with a value-neutral CR is $7400. Expected retail is $11,700. Assuming that the car checks out, I think my initial offer would be in the $8500-9K range. You'll definitely want to see if the big issues have been addressed. (Air suspension, brake actuator, control arms). If these haven't been addressed, your offer should reflect that.

Based on the VIN, the car does not have the air suspension - so that will be one less high ticket maintenance item. As per DedBirdDog - check to see if brake actuator and control arms have been addressed.

The car has been listed for >2 months, so you should have negotiating leverage. Good luck!

Sounds like a good value. The car has the UltraLux package with reclining cooled/heated rear seats, so be sure to check those out as well.

I thought the Ultra Luxury Package has radar cruise control and Pre-Collision, but this one doesn't have. Correct me if I am wrong!

It probably has the comfort package or comfort plus package. The Executive-Class Seating Package requires the long wheelbase.

Comfort Package (LS 460)
Wood- and leather-trimmed heated steering wheel ■ Climate-comfort front seats with heat/cool
**** ■ Heated rear seats ■ Power rear sunshade ■ Headlamp washers
Comfort Plus Package (LS 460)
Wood-and leather-trimmed heated steering wheel ■ Climate-comfort front and rear seats with
heat/cool **** ■ Power rear seats with power headrests and memory ■ Power rear sunshade ■
Headlamp washers ■ Rear-seat side airbags (SRS)7

How much is the dealer asking to inspect the car?

I don't see much replaced on the service history. I do see the Nav update.

You'd potentially be inheriting a money pit. Get it inspected.

I don't see follow replaced
Radiator
water pump
Serpentine belt tensioner
truck lock motor
control arms ( it was recommended, not sure if it was actually replaced)
shocks
Brake actuator

I could see someone spending $5000 at the dealer just to straighten it out

Thank you so much. That was really nice of you to attach the history!. I just emailed he seller if he has any of those replaced.
If he hasn't replaced any of these , should I even waste my $225 just to inspect a car that sooner or later needs all these components replaced?

Thanks,

Take your time to press every button, test every function, if you're not familiar with car, I would personally recommend reading through the manual to make sure all the good features work. It's a pain in the ***, but repairing stuff on the LS can get pretty confusing if you don't have a good toyota mechanic.

The radar cruise is part of the pre-collision system (PCS), and the driver attention monitor and Lane Keep Assist are part of the Advanced PCS. In 2007-2010 cars, these features may be grouped in other packages. But in 2013+ cars, you could definitely get the UltraLux comfort package without the PCS or APCS package. And the UltraLux itself was probably called something else in 2007 cars.

Thanks,
He needs to provide receipts if he had control arms done at a non dealer. Please note. you are inheriting a 10+ year old luxury car. People tend to sell or trade when they decide it is not worth fixing. A 10+ year old BMW 750 or Mercedes S550 with expensive repairs needed would have one foot in the junk yard.

***If you can't do the work yourself and do not have a family member or family mechanic that can do a good portion of the repair work for cheap then I recommend not buying it. Spend your $10K on something newer. That is a decent down payment on something newer with a warranty
