So I had a little scare today - AFS system failure ?!
So was driving maybe a few hundred meters from my apartment when I had a sudden dash warning of the AFS system not working. Decided to turn back home and I used my Wifi odb reader and the carista app to read the codes. I reset them and the car has been running fine.
The front brake pads need changing and I’ve had the warning light for a bit now.
Check out out the photos and let me know what you think.

So after all that time I’ve been getting some related codes to today, I’ve been able to reset them, but when I drive it comes back sometimes with the same, sometimes it’s a different set.

I wish I could help you my friend, but I don't know what to suggest besides take your car to a local independent Lexus shop. It sounds like you have some type of electrical gremlin. On a related note, I found an old post of yours where your power steering went out. Can you tell me how you were able to finally get it working and what all parts you had replaced? I just purchased a 2007 LS460 and the power steering is not working. I'm getting a few similar codes to what you were.
Thank you!
Thank you!

Some MAF sensor cleaner on the metal contact points of the wiring could be the only thing you need. But be prepared to buy a refurb one and it’s only about 500-600 if you send your old core back, or find a used one with some kind of warranty.,
bear in mind that if the shop that installs this if they can’t do the following you need to bring it to a Lexus or Toyota dealer to have the following done after the install. Wheel alignment, zero point calibration and some other kind of calibration I don’t remember and clearing the codes. So keep that in mind when you agree to the price. It should not take more than a couple of hours or so to remove the rack and install a new one, the you add the stuff above I mentioned.

well if you tried clearing the codes and it keeps coming back, then it would be safe to assume that your steering rack has failed for sone reason. Are you going to do the work yourself or have someone do the work. Diagnosis here is cheap so I got it diagnosed at the Lexus dealer then went to a place specialising in steering racks and had a refurbished one put in. The problem with mine was that one of the rubber boots tore and allowed water to get in. Anyways to make a long story short it could also be possible that the contact points of the wiring and motor is the problem. I would suggest getting it inspected, is it making any noise when you turn the wheel?

I actually bought this car at an auction with 'undercarriage damage' and it does not steer at all. I can hardly turn the steering wheel. I was able to clear the power steering error codes, but it still does not steer. I inspected the rack and the harness and both look fine. I also unplugged the harness and cleaned all the connections with the appropriate electrical connection cleaner, but that did not help. I spoke with a neighbor who has a better computer. He will help me diagnose it. I feel that I can replace the rack myself.
