Does anybody know if there's a shortcut to link and unlink the left and right sides of the climate control? I know you can go into the menu and change it, but that's a pain to change every time my wife is in the car with me. I'm wondering if maybe there's some magical button or button combination...

you didn't state what year your car is but on my 2011 460 pressing the "duel" button located in between the up and down arrows of the drivers side climate control will link and unlink them. I believe it is the same for all 2007-2012 models not sure about 2013 and up.

Mine is a 2013 and I have wondered this myself. It’s a pain to go back through the menu to reset to dual after linking them together..

I have a 2015, and I just looked through the manual. Looks the like there is no physical Dual button, but there is an on-screen button when the climate control screen is shown.
So I guess that's my answer. Use the screen, but don't wade through the menus.

Correct...no "Dual" button on our '15's...although my wife's '09 RX has one...but I believe if the passenger moves the temp up or down on their side the "linkage" with driver side is broken without having to go into the menu mess.

Just one more reason to be happy with my 2010 LS600hL! I use the "Dual" switch fairly frequently, and would be annoyed if I had to dig through a menu to find it...

Its 2 clicks on the screen for the 16-17 unit. One click on the sidebar to bring up climate and one on dual.

The LS600 is the ultimate Lexus Flagship, generally loaded down with the majority of options. Some items on the LS600 are unique to that car, like the leather dash, special headlights, hybrid add-on performance, CVT, etc. The car is definitely much heavier than a standard LS460L (due to the added common options, AWD, and hybrid batteries). The added weight, when coupled with the larger V8 and added hybrid motors, results in a ride that is even more planted and solid-feeling than that of the LS460L. While the added weight does slow the car down a bit (it's roughly the same 0-60 as the standard LS460), the overall quietness and rush of acceleration seems quite a bit more pleasing (to me) than that of the LS460. Punching the throttle when driving 45 results in the most amazing, quiet whoosh of power I've ever experienced. It goes from 45-100 mph very quickly! I'm not a huge fan of CVTs, but with the incredible power and torque of the LS600hL, I wouldn't have it any other way, and the car never seems to hesitate or need to downshift to give immediate power.
The original cost premium when new was around $30k, but on a used LS600hL, the price bump over a similar LS460L is much smaller, which makes the LS600hL more appealing on the used market. Feel free to shoot me any questions you might have!

mmalik: I'm a huge fan of the LS600hLs, as you'll see if you read any of my past posts. I think you'll be able to get most of my rationale for my love of the LS600hLs from scanning my past posts, but here's the short version:

The 600hL doesn't weight as much more as you'd think, an LS460L AWD with air suspension weighs 4,739 lbs, an LS600hl (which has air suspension and AWD standard) weighs 5,115 lbs, so it weighs 376 lbs more. Having driven similarly equipped AWD and RWD LS460Ls with air suspension, that weight gap is 418 lbs...I don't think the weight difference has any impact on the ride.
