2008 LS 460 control arms
Hello,
I just bought a used 2008 LS 460 47K miles at a local authorized Lexus dealership and I did read up on this control arm, does this control arm thing happens on ALL the LS 460? or is this just a random thing? please advise...Thanks so much!

460LS460, I have an ‘07 L that my regular Lexus shop says needs a major control-arm bushing job. Been looking at the FIGS ‘LS460 Core Plus Refresh Kit’ at $1350. Thing is, the shop uses genuine TMC (Lexus) parts and I’m not sure they will want to install aftermarket parts. I’m in South Bay and would like to know who your LA guy is. Thanks!

I just bought a 2016 LS460 with 100k for my Dad. Acura dealer didnt tell me about the cracked Front & Lower Control Arm Bushings and rear cracked balljoints. Lexus dealer quoted $9k for these jobs. I called my extended warranty which i bought at the time of sale but they denied coverage because its a pre existing condition. I will call your guy for a quote. I am debating whether or not to install after market parts. Thanks

Wow they have really stacked their inflation service pricing since the last time I got a quote. $6K was 3yrs ago. Yeah, the removing the old ones was the pain for me. Just a learning curve issue. Make sure you have weight on the car before final tightening down. My stabilizer links rattled until I figured that little find out. Best if you have some ramps that you either drive on or lower from your jack stands onto. Deals on after market pricing are out there.
I have replaced my tires, road forced balanced tires, replaced front control arms, transmission mount, and I'm still getting a vibration in the seat. I'm maybe going to replace the rear control arms next, but they look good. The motor on these cars is one of the best, but the suspension is one of the worst.
also, I changed my spark plugs out last weekend. Went ok, but hate the tight tolerances on the ignition tube removal.
Good luck on your upcoming project. There is a lot of good info on here to help you...

In a general way, any big heavy car is likely to have wear issues on certain components. About 2012-13 Lexus changed the control arms and they last longer. These new arms are available for older models too. There are multiple threads here about control arm/suspension replacement. Many of them address ways to save money on the parts and labor.

swfla is absolutely right. You could put a heavier more robust suspension, but it would ride like a truck. There was a recent link related to suspension, whereby one of the members figured out how to move to the newer control arms. I'll try to find it as well.
What I will say, is that I LOVE & HATE my LS460. I love the acceleration, handling, comfort, and since I put the VLine in..the "electronics" you mentioned have been better. I hate the oil use, suspension entirely, and the cost of parts when something breaks. I have the resources to buy a newer Lexus, but after driving the latest models, I like my 2007. So, I've been devoting more time to learning how to better take care of her. Hell of lot cheaper than mechanics, dealers, and car notes, but we each have to know our limitations. The guys here on this forum will help you know what the road ahead looks like whether you go Left/Right, and then you can decide whether you want to continue, turn around and go back, or park the car - leave the keys - set it on fire - and walk away.

here's the link I was looking for...
https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...os-inside.html
LILEVO mentions that the reference numbers for the "newer" control arms that interchange, yet give a better performance position.

Thanks guys. 2007 LS has a rectangular & muscular look to it especially the rear so I know what you mean about the new LS design which I cant tell apart from IS or ES from a distance.
i have been looking to changing only the bushings but one member commented that it didnt work out so that option out for me.
I traded in a 2013 GX 460 premium that had 94k miles that never had any bushing or balljoint issues. I wonder if it is because it has totally different suspension being a body on frame?
