Default Most Reliable Years for Lexus LS460 2014-2017

Hi everyone!
New to this forum as a member, but been reading it for awhile.

I have been looking into buying a certified Lexus LS460 AWD from years of 2014-2017 with less than 40K miles I was curious to see what years in your opinion have been the most reliable and least amount of issues? I know the history of the LS which has been an outstanding and luxurious full-size vehicle from Japan. I personally prefer the S550 4Matic but looking at Lexus as a practical and cheaper option as someone young.

But I would appreciate all the help. Thanks!

The 2013+ cars are considered to be the best of the Gen 4 run. Obviously, the newer it is, the fewer problems there are likely to be. I don't think you'd regret any purchase in this group at all.

I completely agree - From the reliability perspective, regardless of which year you end up buying, you will be satisfied as long as the car is kept in good condition. My LS is an 07 and have 181K miles on it and still running strong without any issue. I intend to keep it until it hits 250K.

With a certified car, a 2014 would be a great ride. It's the second year of the new body/interior and there are plenty around with decent mileage. I've been looking around and prices are dropping. Good luck.

Makes a lot more sense. What are some major issues in Lexus LS460 in these years of 2014-2017 I should be aware of? Do these cars become problematic after 80k?

I know it all depends on how you take care of it. But still curious.

@jaishanker I live in Virginia, USA. Below are the listed repairs I've done to the vehicle and the mileage they were done on. The car has been getting a Synthetic oil change every 5k miles along with tire rotation/ wheel alignment & balancing (as needed).

- 110K - Wipers replaced

- 121K - Passenger side HID bulb replaced

- 125K - Tires replaced
- 125K - Brakes & Rotors replaced

- 130K - A.C Compressor Replaced
- 130K - Radiator Replaced

- 135K - Throttle Body Replaced

- 150K - Spark Plugs Replaced
- 150K - Wipers Replaced
- 150K - Brakes & Rotors Replaced
- 150K - Tires Replaced

My LS car has 181K right now, on the 185K oil change, I intend to do the following in addition to oil changes and alignment balancing & tire rotation.
- Wipres
- Brakes & Rotors (current one about 25% left)
- TPMS Sensor for the front passenger tire (needs replacement, the older one has gone dark)
- Replace Headlight Washer nozzle (one disappeared so I'll change both)
- Check A/C System - May be running low on Freon (not needed, just getting ready for summer)

Last but not least, some of these things may have seem excessive, but I like to keep my vehicles in mint condition and be able to take them on 1000+ miles journey on moment's notice. And although with 181K miles on my LS, i'm still comfortable taking it on long distance travels. Also, when I travel, sometime I'll take extended breaks in rest areas where my LS or whichever vehicle i'm driving will stay idle for 6 to 8 hours with AC or heat on.

Hope this helps.

.
I'm curious--how much gas is used to idle the car for 6 or 8 hours with heat or A/C going?

It never took more than a quarter tank. And the maximum idle time I had was for 9 hours. Its always less than a quarter. AC/Heat is always on auto - i just adjust the temperature.

I just went through my entire service history of the car and I didn't see transmission oil change anywhere in the Lexus drivers record. The car had recommended maintenance service done from Lexus until 164K. Unless any of the Lexus recommended service includes the transmission oil change, i did not specifically got the transmission oil changed. Now i just have my Indy take care of it.

I bought the car at 100K and I've put 81K miles in 3 years. Here are some pics. I don't have many pics of my vehicles. There pics are a little old. I'll take fresh one tomorrow and share.

PS - I did not change any wheel bearing, ABS break pump and / or had any issue with the control arm.

My LS & LX in summer 2018. LX ready to tow the Sonata from VA to FL (900 miles)

Also, summer 2018, LS ready to leave from VA to Toronto. I took this picture to see how much suspension dropped after all the luggage and 3 adults in the car.

Summer 2018 - VA to toronto (500 miles). 4 suitcases in the car and 4 adults inside (including me)

Just a random picture.
