2013 LS460 L caught my eye
Hello everyone, just joined today but I have been lurking for a while after selling my Nissan Titan a few weeks ago and I have been looking at a 2013 LS460 L with 75,000 miles on it. I looked at the service history and the last Lexus service was in 2015. I am going to look at the vehicle in person Monday and possible take it to a Lexus dealer to have it inspected if it appears ok. The lack of service history at a Lexus dealer is not a deal breaker and hopefully the service was kept up. Carfax reports only 3 owners with no accidents and no damage reported. What did concern me is that the last listed sale was at auction in February of this year. I know that not all auction cars are junk but after working at one in my younger years, I know the auction is where some cars go when they can not be sold or have some other problem. The lot the car is at is asking $25000 for it and I am going to attempt to come off that a little if possible. For all savvy 460 vets on this site, does this seem like a good deal or should I continue looking and not bother getting an inspection? I tried looking through the FAQ for a decent answer but this was pretty specific and I just wanted a few opinions on the matter. Thanks in advance and I will attempt to get any info on the vehicle when asked.

Without hesitation, I would pass on it due to the number of owners and the lack of documented service history.
While the price might appear attractive, they have dropped quite a bit on these models lately.

Thanks for the replies, the lack of service records was worrisome to me and I think I will keep looking. The car is a good hour and a half away from me one way with traffic and I don't feel like wasting my entire day, plus the dealer is not a brand name dealer and their reviews were hit or miss. The hunt continues.

You wouldn't believe how many cars these days go through dealer-only auctions. In and of itself, an auction history should never be a disqualifier. I'd be more concerned with the lack of service history, although a PSI is an easy way to get around that. I looked through Manheim's post-sale results from February and didn't see a 2013 L with that mileage (or even close to it) that had gone through. There are other auctions though. That price is pretty much wholesale value on that car.

I have a perfect example of a 13’ L I would consider selling. Garage kept. 39k miles. It’s not 25k though. Full service records at dealer and 2 owner car. I am the second owner. I bought it from the original owner via private sale and we have remained friends since. I’m in south Florida though so a bit far from you.

While the dealer service history is nice to see it doesn't mean it wasn't serviced. Many owners are smart enough to ditch the expensive dealer service once the warranty runs out or even before because it isn't required to keep your warranty (but helps with claims). Remember there isn't a lot of "service history" to be done in 75k miles. You're talking about oil changes and some air filters. Review the LS460 maintenance schedule for yourself so you're aware of what it could be missing.
I DIY all of my maintenance and I assure you my car is meticulously maintained, however other than my own record there wouldn't be one. Have the car inspected and go from there. I think you can get the price cheaper; use the lack of service history as a negotiating point even if it isn't a concern

Welcome to Club Lexus.
The asking price seems a little high, but I'm not sure. If you go to NADA, Kelley and Edmunds and plug in all the specifics, you can get an approximate idea of what the car is worth.

Did you go check out the 2013 LS today, JFree3000? I am late to this thread. We also have a 2013 LS but short wheelbase. Please see the below thread for some items to inspect on 2013 LS. Good luck on your search.
