Default 2014 LS460 L with 210k miles

This car is going through Manheim tomorrow morning. MMR is $8,775. There's a pretty solid Lexus dealer maintenance history with the car and it looks like a pretty good indicator of what can be expected of the 2013+ models as they age and pile on miles. The VIN if anyone wants to check it out is JTHDL5EF7E5006132. Given the history, I suspect someone might be able to get a pretty nice car at a bargain price. I'll post the sale results once it sells.

You won't be able to see it. It's dealer only access.

PDF of the service history is downloadable from this link. Good for 20 downloads and expires a week from today.

Impressive and not surprising. 40k+ miles/year is about what I put on my LS430 (95% highway for me) and it drove just as good at 250k miles as it did at 75k miles. My big question with it coming from NY/NJ and being black/black is if it was potentially a car service (town car type service) that racked up a ton of miles in more stop & go type traffic. Highway miles tend to be easier on a car.

Nonetheless, if someone gets it for $13k or so, it's a killer value. Looks great in the pic.

Do you have a dealer license and can you make purchases at these auctions? In California, we also have "dealer only auctions" where only a representative from an actual Lexus dealership could bid on a Lexus. Same thing for other brands. Is it the same in your area?

I'm not trying to be a wise guy; but can someone help me understand the logic of a 2014 LS with 210,000 miles, that was owned by a limo service in a harsh northern climate, for $13K is a better deal than a low mileage; '07, '08, '09, or even a '10?

I just bought a well optioned 2007 L with 80,000 one owner little old lady miles on it and two sets of OEM wheels and great tires, in almost like new condition for $13,000. I've seen other deals like this as well.

I know the newer models have the face lift, and there's a perception that the early models have inherent (but correctable) flaws; but from a value perspective, it's hard for me to see the logic. Admittedly, I'm a freak for old low mileage luxury cars, and I understand that 200K is nothing on that drivetrain , but other components tend to wear with that much use.

Interestingly enough, that car brought $14,100 at the auction today, WAY over the estimated MMR. That's actually good news as it will ripple through the MMR and every L car will get a boost out of that sales price. My guess, and I could be completely wrong about this, is that this car was probably used on the Atlantic City run out of Newark or JFK.

@Outofspec , I tend to agree with you in general. In this particular car's case, the maintenance history showed that all the big (expensive) items had been done on the car. Mileage is only relevant when combined with the maintenance. I absolutely would take a 140k highway mile car (and I did) over a 60k car that spent its entire life in Manhattan, the Loop, or choking down fumes on the 405. It's all dependent on the individual car. In this case, it brought almost $6k more than expected. Someone clearly wanted it. And hopefully, all L owners will benefit from it as well.

@RandyV Ha! Sorry man. I'm lucky to have it myself.

@RussLS460 I don't, but I have access through someone who does. I've bought a number of vehicles out of auctions through him over the years. Some auctions, such as very late model cars sold at auction by LexuFinancialal Services, might require a Lexus dealer to be eligible to bid. GM is notorious about that. I haven't seen any of the LFS auctions as bidder restricted but I'll look for that going forward. Generally, if you have a dealer license (or access to one) and a Manheim Account, you can buy at any auction nationwide. ADESA is similar but I've had good luck with Manheim and never have used ADESA.

Logic noted gentlemen. I haven’t even seen, much less sat in, or driven a newer model LS, so my comment is probably misplaced from the get go anyway. I’ve been so enamored with my ‘07, that it’s hard to imagine something more appealing.I’ve never been more comfortable in a car, than in my LS. I drove W126 chassis S class Mercedes for over 20 years (two models, basically the same car) before buying this Lexus. I’m not big on change, or updates. I do get it though. The wonderful thing about the car hobby is that we’re all right. It’s a personal choice and whatever floats your boat. I’m going to make it a point to see a newer LS in person.

You also got BSM in 2013+, and once you've had that, you won't want to go back. Very odd that it took Lexus that long to roll that out. My 2009 Escalade had it.
