Rear Wheel Hub Removal
I am attempting to replace the passenger rear wheel hub on my 2008 LS460. I cannot remove the 4 - 17mm bolts that attach to the hub. There is no room to get a socket in there due to the axle being in the way. Has anyone had any luck removing these bolts without removing the lower shock asborber connector, control arms, etc...? Any input is greatly appreciated.

You have to remove the axel nut, slide the axle back with a gear puller, remove the speed sensor, pop (don't and don't bend) the metal shroud. Move the metal shroud around with your hand to gain access to remove the bolts. Search on the site, as others have explained this better. Here's a link to the workshop manuals...

I found the hardest part is putting the shroud back in place and lining up that stupid hole for the sensor. What a PITA!

I am experiencing a constant 'whoop whoop whoop ...' when in motion. As I increase the speed, it sounds like a helicopter sound. Initially I thought the brake caliper was sticking, causing the brake pad to be loose, therefore creating the annoying sound. I confirmed that was not the case. The brake caliper is working as it should. I then concluded that the wheel hub bearing assembly is the culprit. Am I on the right path?
