If I am following a navigation route to a destination (route guidance is giving me directions) and I want to just stop things (not pause it, but just stop the guidance permanently and go back to normal), how do I do this?
Even if I turn off the car, it will re-start guidance on this route when I restart the car.
I have a 2014 LS460.
Thank you.

Press the "talk" switch for voice command (not the Siri switch), wait for the beep and say "Delete Destination", You may have to confirm this action depending on how your system is set up but this will clear the destination and be ready for the next one.

You can also press the MENU button on the center console. Then select DESTINATION on the screen using the mouse on the center console. Then select Del Dest on the screen, using the mouse.

OK, thanks, I will try that too. I think I tried that and it gave me a list of destinations I had stored, rather than just the current destination.
But I will check that.
The problem with that is if I am driving, that's a lot of work to find the destination from a list.
All I want to do is just stop the route guidance on the currently active destination.
But I'll check to see if I'm mistaken on that.
Thanks again for the help.

Both the verbal and manual methods described work, the second step(s) are a safeguard so you
do not inadvertently stop your guidance while in heavy traffic...in a strange town...running late...
Note: the dialog box that opens when you are "Deleting Destination" manually has a grammatical
error in that it reads "Do you want to Delete this Destination?" Some folks are unwilling to answer
"Yes" because it is worded as if it you are going to eliminate the laboriously entered Destination.
The dialog box should actually read "Do you want to delete this ROUTE?". Answer is then Yes.

Thanks for that alert about the wording.
I indeed was confused about "Deleting the Destination" when I did want to just delete the Route.
I'm trying to understand things and it seems like there are 3 classes of saved locations:
1. Your Address Book
2. Your Destination List
3. Your Route(s)? (Is there just one route, the current one?)
So when you delete a "Route" (where it says "Delete a Destination"), you are just removing the current route you are taking, correct?
The Destinations you have saved will remain if I get this right
Is the Address Book a separate list from your Destination List?

Well you have a nav system 7 years newer than mine, but if things are the same -
Yes, when you delete the route you are just removing the current route from guidance. It still remains in your list of destinations.
And yes the address list is separate from the destinations list.

I spent some time studying the voice commands,., they accomplish most of the things I need to do regularly; namely, change the temperature. put on my desired music, and set a destination. Be sure to "train" the system to "learn"your voice...hardly ever have to touch the remote touch mouse...

The voice-command system learns my voice? 'didn't know that.
It was having some trouble even though I spoke clearly and sort of loud and I don't have any sort of accent I think.
Thanks for that tip.
(But I read in the manual that you should not speak TOO loud. I found that interesting.)

When you enter a destination (verbally while driving or manually while stopped) it simply becomes
the most recent "previous" destination. A really quick and easy way to enter a destination (or waypoint)
is to use the "Mark" button along the bottom. No talking/No typing! Can be done while driving!
See a Photo Opportunity? Tap Mark. Swerve around a pothole (we are in Chicago...) Tap Mark.
Tap Mark when you have a favorite Point of Interest queued up. These Marks are now in your
Address Book, room for 100. While stopped you should take a moment to "Edit" your Marks.
If nothing else, change the icon. Purple Plate for favorite restaurant, Yellow Exclamation mark
for potholes, Hearts and Stars for relatives and friends. Note: regular POI icons vanish when you
zoom out...Mark icons are visible from space! Edit those default Blue Flags you may already have
by simply clicking on one (while stopped) and changing the icon. To go to a favorite spot just zoom
up till you see it and click and go!
One of best uses I have developed is to 1) click on a take-out restaurant near our house 2) set route
3) watch ETA count down to 15 minutes 4/ tap the Mark and dial the embedded # 5) smile when the
clerk announces it will be ready in 15 minutes!

Neat! Thanks.
I had been using the Mark but I wasn't exactly sure what it did and wasn't sure of how useful it was.
Thanks for the great tip and I'll play with it.
(I think Lexus or someone should have a cheat sheet for these Navigation systems. Even the quick guides are not too good with the underlying concepts or not-obvious capabilities like this one. The useful stuff is buried in the verbiage.)
