Smile Buying 2007 LS460 with 220k Miles on it.

I test drove one (2008 version) and I fell in love, great car. I was keep looking around and found 2007 with 220k miles, its only $6k I would assume there is a lot of problems with it, what kinda of problems I can face right away such as (Suspension, the control arms and such). I will try to test drive it tomorrow. I'm only 20 years old and I'm currently in college and working (soon to have full-time job,and part-time college next month) ,live by myself (roommate girlfriend) I don't spend money for anything and I drive a Honda fit sport 2007 with 173k miles on it and I do all maintenance and major repairs. My dad is a mechanic and he thought me how to fix cars (not major fix like engine rebuild) but he would not approve this purchase, therefore I would love to hear some information on this car.I will probably finance it for 4 years but pay it off in less than a year. I'm just very tired of my car and I want something luxury like LS460 because I drive to my parents and ride is around 3 hours away (one way). If there is any grammatical and formalization mistakes I'm sorry, I'm not so great with my English.
Thank you. -d0n3

There's a lot of stuff that starts going out at that kind of mileage, and it's all very expensive for the parts alone: axle boots, control arms, trunk lock, tie rods, main front balljoints, wheel bearings, etc.

For $6-7k you can buy yourself a decent Acura TSX or Lexus ES350 with under 130,000 miles, both of which will not cost you ridiculous amounts of money to fix. The KA24 and 2GR-FE are ubiquitous, with plenty of parts available, while the LS460 is a unique vehicle with very expensive parts to replace, regardless of your mechanical aptitude. And both, which I have personally owned, are quite nice cars. The ES350 is a very decent car, and because it rides on the Camry/Avalon chassis with improved suspension, parts are cheap.

And, let's face it: even a Camry is a luxurious upgrade to the toybox Honda Fit. And the ES350 and TSX even more so, all without having a gut-punching repair bill waiting around the corner.
Also I've been driving my Honda without ac for about two summers and it's kinda annoying, because it requires at least a good 2-4 days of work on it but I dont have another vehicle to let me have my Honda stay in parked. I just loved the way the LS460 Drove, the sound system a/c everywhere, huge and safe. Compare to what I have is not safe at all during the rain,no a/c horrible, audio system nothing close to luxury with the seats and I would say it has 2 paint jobs on it now because sun made the red on the car and turned into a pink color... Only very good feature my car has is gas mileage, and its tiny (only for parking not for safety at all because the way I drive is horrible (very fast).

I would go for it because you do your own wrenching and your dad is a mechanic. You won't find anything nicer for that money. Get the seller down to 5k

Ironically, there are some parts that are actually better than an LS460 (such as the lack of melting arm rests). It's definitely not an LS460, but it's also not going to break your wallet if you have to do repairs.

Buy yourself an LS460 when you have a good job and can afford to get a nice condition one with 100,000 miles or less. A 200,000 mile one is fine if you've owned it and kept up with maintenance, though I would personally dump it, but to buy one with over 200,000 miles is just a bad idea.
What about 2008 IS 250 ?

And newer ones because I could potentially afford 15k$ and less it's just finding best price point and features, because I don't really feel like getting without screen(gps and cameras with sensors) because for me it's more of a upgrade rather just a replacement if a needed another daily beater I could easily get a honda fit 2012 from my dad for $3k but I'm looking forward for features, because 2009-2013 Honda fit's are literally the same as mine just more isolated interior from the road, but same harsh ride, no cameras, no center console ( screen) only upgrade in that honda is arm rest that my car is missing. For me personally If LS460 is so bullet proof is enough to keep for minimum of 2 years and keep until engine dies, because I will keep my Honda as a second car for any emergency or short 1 min trips to the store.
Also safety in my Honda is 0 on highway. If I crash I'm dead.

if you can get it for $5k or something maybe its worth it , but id really recommend scraping up another 3-4 grand and getting one with lesser mileage if possible

I'd keep looking and either save up more $$ for a 460 or consider a 400 or 430.
