I am rolling on 19's. Did the 07's have the 8 speed transmission? I remember back when we first got the LS we took a trip to Olympia, WA and I saw 30 and some change running 70 MPH. At 75 MPH I am running right at 1900 rpm's

All of you gentlemen are really lucky. I own a 2007 LS 460 Base. I live in a very congested traffic area, Rochester Hills Michigan, a suburb about one north of Detroit 20 minutes south of Flint. I do a lot of city driving and I average about 15.2 MPG. On the rare occasion that I've traveled on the highway for any short of distance worth mentioning, I averaged 19 MPG maaaaybe 20 MPG on a rare occasion. My car has 77,870 miles on it and it has been meticulously maintained. ALL fluids are fresh, fresh spark plugs current on all maintenance and updates (all done at a Lexus dealership). As you all can see, I can't touch any of your numbers, not even close, and I don't know why. I roll on Michelin Premier LTXs (18s) all the way around, 34-36 tire pressures. Any thoughts and or ides as of the huge mileage discrepancy?
eliminate the possibles is my thought.
my service writer has his mechanics drive the car hard to clean the fuel system up

Jack the car up and release your e-brake. Spin each wheel to check for any drag or grinding. A failing wheel bearing or any kind of drag in the brake system can pull down your fuel economy. Make sure you are running synthetic 0W-20 oil and change your rear differential fluid with a high quality synthetic like Delvac 75w-90 of it hasn't been exchanged. If you are AWD then exchange the transfer case gear oil too. Replace the two engine air filters. Run premium fuel and consider running a tank or two with Chevron Techron Total Fuel system cleaner. Post back your findings, I bet you will find some of this helps.

it really is made and designed for highway cruising
I never had a car that eats up the road so smoothly , it does feel like your flying
I wish we had higher speed limits here (60mph) , the speed limits were set decades ago and cars have come along way since then, quite ridiculous

Most traffic engineers agree that speed limits should be set at the 85th percentile, at least. I know when I'm doing 80mph in bumper-to-bumper traffic on my morning commute that 100% of people are breaking the ridiculous 55mph speed limit. Anyone doing less than 70 in the left lane is just a rolling roadblock.
