Replaced passenger side "garnish light" (yep that's what it is called) under warranty.
OK, so never recalled seeing that garnish light on my car, after a closer look I did noticed the smaller section on the left side does light up. Never noticed it in the 10 months I have owned this car. I do not drive it much. I have to decide if I want to spend $125. to fix it.
I did do an EL string Neon LED strip in my GS430 which works nice. I am thinking of doing the same to this garnish strip.
Ran over some debris in the road and damaged two of my tires. Since I had to get new tires I decided to change things up a bit.
Installed Rohanna staggered setup. RC10, 20x9, 35mm offset 20x10,40mm offset.
Tires continental Extreme Contact DWS06. 245/40/20 and 275x35x20. No change in ride quality al all.
The car now has 84k miles and feel rolls around too much for my liking. Ordered a set of Fortune 500 coil overs with upgrades Swift springs for it. Wait time is 5 to 6 weeks due to being customs built and the COVID19 situation. Cant wait.
Sunday, I did my first Shin-Etsu grease on my 2014 from when I owned it. I did every rubber part, including in the motor and trunk.
I can honestly say, this one helped. I was noticing a little wind noise around 70mph and after doing this, it appears to be gone. With this being said, I noticed some dirt on my rubber seals, so I wiped them down with some water before greasing them. I don't believe they were after done on this car before.
I've done this on all my cars with great results. When you can get into a car that has almost 250K (my old LS), feel the rubber seals, they they feel brand new and soft, I can say it works.
I see people in this thread questioning how good and how apply it...
My Process for doing this for people wondering. I take a paper towel (you can use what you want here)and some water, leaving some water on but, not dripping. I wipe down all rubber seals on the door to do a light cleaning. After it's dry (you can dry them if you want) I put on gloves(this is important), I put the grease on my finger tips on the gloves, going around lightly pinching so I get a light coat of the grease on the whole rubber seal, pull back a little (not pulling off) to get both sides of the rubber.
If you take your glove, BEFORE wetting or greasing, you will fine that it's hard to move on the rubber. When applying the grease, you want to be able move smoothly on it. If applied correctly, you should be able to lightly pinch the rubber and it would be easy to slide across the rubber. So put some on your fingers, apply and slide till it's smooth.
After you got all of the door (for example), getting around, the lower part of the door and rubber on the lower part of the car. After this is all done. You will see white on a lot of the seals. Don't forget the sunroof. Pop up to do the back side, then open 1/2 way to do the other side.
What you want to do now, is take a paper towel, and wipe it all off. This should get all the white off (and any spots you got on the car, as it happens), and leave them soft and slightly greasy. This is what you want, if you feel the rubber after wiping off, you will feel the difference.
After this take clean up where the rubber seals will hit the car, so use your favorite cleaner and clean in the door jams (?). This will assure you get a proper seal.
It was last week as today is Monday. My brother and I worked together to replace all 4 rotors, 8 brake pads, 4 parking brake shoes and lots of miscellaneous brake-related parts. Rockauto for all of them. My sweat equity and his saved me $700. Next week we work on his G35 doing the same rounds. It's nice to be able to do something on these very computer-oriented cars.
Finally scored some 19" 2013-2017 wheels I'd been looking for since I got the car. Once I get tires they will be going on.
Also got all 8 tube gaskets replaced. At this point, I have the job down to a science and got all 8 done, garage cleaned, and cars reparked in 45 minutes.
Did you replace tube gaskets without removing the valve covers? If so how do you remove the old ones? Could you also provide part numbers?
There is a notch in the valve cover at the top of each tube gasket. It allows to pry out the gasket with a screw driver. I believe, the part number is 11193-38020.

thanks anfanger, appreciate the response.
1. So you don't have to worry about the gaskets being hard and brittle and difficulty removing? All the videos on YouTube show people struggling with removing old ones from valve cover.
2. How do you install the new ones? Any special advice on making sure the new ones are installed correctly?
3. I have a gs350 and the limited references I've seen to doing this job(without removing valve covers) have been for ls460, nothing for any other models. Should this be same for gs350?
So today in New England was a really nice day, in the 70's, So I decided to take today off to get my spark plugs done and a few other things.
Started around 10:30 this morning, finished up around 3:30...
I found the plugs on this car a little tricky. For the most part they were fairly easy if you had the right tools there was 1-2 to that gave me a major headache. There was ONE I was afraid of, It was beyond tight, WAY above spec, I went very slow and still was afraid of breaking the plug but, it came out fine.
I changed them because of the history, it's been almost 90k from when they were done and when on the breaks at a light, I was feeling a slight vibration. I did read that old plugs could do this, so just so I know, I wanted to get them done.
Here are the old plugs...
After the plugs were changed, I cleaned the Mass-airflow senors and also cleaned out the Smog filter.
I also got new plugs(clips ?) for the motor covers and while they were all off, I really cleaned the covers before putting them back on.
So a lot of things done, the Spark plugs will make me sore tonight...
Got 18% carbon tints put in all the way around. The car came with nothing. I think it looks really good and was concerned it would be too dark, but I think it looks great inside and out. I'll get pics up soon.
