Default Control arm bushings STILL a problem..........

We've all read the many posts about control arm bushing failure and the cost to replace these on the earlier LS460s. Well, my 2014 went in today for an alignment (abnormal tire wear - 40,000miles) and the dealer called to say the left front lower control arm and both upper control arms need replacing, cost $2340.42. So, contrary to popular opinion, I don't think anything was done to the bushing material in the later models to make them more robust.

I drive my cars very sedately, so it's not my driving style to blame. Interestingly, my 2007 LS with 100,000 miles on the clock, never had any issues with the control arms.

Thank God for my extended warranty!!!

You drive it sedately, but did you buy it used or new? impossible to know how the previous owner drove it.

Yes, futher investigation reveals that it's only the left hand suspension that needs repair so I'm guessing the previous owner hit a (really) big pothole or something. Just kinda pissed that they didn't discover this at the CPO inspection or at subsequent services since I took ownership. Cost me a pair of Bridgestone EL42 tires to identify the problem for them!

At least the tires you lost were terrible tires. Use this as an opportunity to buy good tires lol
