Not really... I read a LOT on here when I start having/noticing an issue, so am fairly educated what I need done. I got to my local Indy shop and tell them what I want done or inspected.
Normally they will point out things but, no pressure and it's up to me if I want them done.
figured I would update the post with the same ole same ole, brief story below:
Today I picked up a set of air filters for the motor. I had a slight hesitation that I thought was the throttle body even after it was cleaned.
the plugs were changed 7500 miles ago.
Sure enough I had a dealer say cmon in well do it free, that was extremely nice.
Drove out of the dealer with two surprises. four actually.
1) the smoothness and mpg after the change were both welcome additions, the last change of filters was with other owner early 2016 and 20,000 miles ago.
not a drop of the slight slight hesitation much smoother. really happy I changed them. did a city / highway trip that I normally would average 22 in the loop and averaged 24.8 with about 60 percent highway
2) noticed when I picked it up the same stapled ticket nonsense, this time with a unit that looks like is sorta gps unit black with pointy edges.
3) when I picked up the car I didn't want the wash, they left the key on top of dash toward the left speaker,
yup on the underneath of where it was on the dash slight white marks from it scraping, not bad
4) on the front window I notice a inch and half vertical line that looked like it was scratched inside
wasn't there before and after five minutes with hopes glass cleaner and a microfiber it came out,
5) on my new arm rest yup drop of grease from whomever was in my car
im so tired of this nonsense
I am on board with what Steve said and use an indy only its so disrpectful what's going on in even higher end dealerships
Around my neck of the woods, indies are my last resort. They charge within 10% of dealer charges, don't have the right equipment to do the job properly, and give you that "deer in the headlight" look if you have any issues after the fact. No thanks!
Sadly, if I can't do it myself, I take it to the dealer. At least if there are any issues, they'll usually make it right.
You gotta see the grease stains the monkey at Walmart left after I (had to) get my oil changed there. There's a first and last time for everything.... I hated having someone touch my car to do anything, and here I was in an apartment complex that wouldn't allow car work. Looking back I think I would have just risked eviction vs. letting those zeroes touch my car.
All these stories about the dealership maintenance service makes me appreciate the 2 independents I use for my fleet...… One is for general items and the other is more performance services. They are both over 50 miles away (in opposite directions) but worth the trouble.....
Of course, I felt anxious during the process when I gave my car to a service center for repairs or any other procedure, because my car is very important to me - it is a gift from my late father and I constantly worry about the integrity of the car. I thought I was the only one and there is no one who would be experiencing the same feelings as me. But since the car needs maintenance and repairs, and I can't cope with anxiety on my own, I have to buy bulk kratom not only to calm myself, but also to calm others
The dealer I use for regular maintenance has been good so far. No dings or scratches. They do not wash my car. They place my keys in a small zip bag that is held in the cup holder. They send me a video of the underside of the car with commentary from the mechanic while I wait for the service to be done. The price is definitely a bit too high, but they did diagnose an issues without charging me anything extra for it. After that I went to my trusty indy mechanic that fixed the car for less than half the price.
