HELP! Front End Noise : Pop/Rattle > Having trouble diagnosing
#16
We torqued everything down on the inside/frame bushing on the lower rear control arm, and:
- The Creak/Pop is completely gone from the right side.
- The Pop is gone from the left side but there is still a bit of creak (perhaps 50% of what it was).
The rattle still remains and we discovered it seems to go away when riding the brakes gently. My pads are also missing the OEM brake pad shims. I'm going to pick up a set from the dealer and have them installed... MAYBE/HOPEFULLY that will fix the rattle over small bumps.

UPDATE: rattle problem solved!
Lexus dealership isolated it to the ball joint on the passenger lower front control arm that had just been replaced! Mevotech Garbage ball joint failed immediately.
I do NOT recommend Mevotech for lower front arms due to weak ball joints.

Not sure it’s worth paying to ship the $109 arm zit Mevotech for them to inspect it and MAYBE find something wrong with it, then ship me a replacement arm I don’t need.
Sad but true.
Won’t be ordering Mevotech parts again.

I have what is probably the same problem. I sit still in a parking lot, turn the wheel all the wall to the left and do a slow donut. At the being there is a POP sound and then it goes away. I bring the car to a stop turn the wheel all the way to the right and start a slow donut. At the being of the turn there is a POP and then it goes away. Regardless of whether I'm going right or left it always POPs form the drivers side. I too have had all of the front end parts replaced before this problem started. I have two questions? How do they determine the ball joint was failing? I got into the wheel housing and checked the torque and tightness of all connections including the ball joint. And second, what kind of failure are wee talking about? Can I just ignore it without serious consequences? Let me know. Thanks
