Ok. PC in the 2013 LS600HL
Very nice improvement.
put in city +3 and its just right.
nice pedal response. I can't say it's faster.
just snappier. That lag is gone.
I decided to look into this again and Amazon does not currently stock the correct unit. PC has a $75 coupon, but the price is up to $350. I despise when a company raises prices and offers a coupon and calls it a 'sale'
I get ya.
lt is a business, everyone has to make their money.
I will say however, As long as it doesn't through any codes it is well worth it just for the fun factor.
Took me three years, but I finally got this and installed it this morning. I stared on City+1 and it was like driving a completely different car. Most of my driving is on 30 mph city streets, and I thought City+1 was a bit twitchy. Currently trying City-1. I don't drive a lot, so it might take a couple weeks for me to really get a feel for how much this changes the throttle response, but my first impression is that it's amazing.
Now that it's been a couple weeks wanted to report back. I love it, and wish I'd bought it 3 years ago when Steve was first telling us about it. It completely removes all throttle lag. Honestly, it now drives the way it should have in the first place!
I don't know why Toyota dumbed down the throttle so much. At first I figured it was to improve fuel economy, but my gas mileage seems to be unchanged so far with the device.
Anyway, if anybody's on the fence; definitely get it. Best $300 you can spend on the LS IMO.
As the title says, I installed a Pedal Commander in my LS460, and so far I like it. For those of you not familiar the Pedal Commander is a control device that plugs in between your accelerator pedal and the car's DBW throttle system. Essentially it tricks the ECU into thinking you're applying more throttle input than you are, which makes the car feel more responsive.
One thing that frustrated me about the 2013 change was the linking of the throttle modes to the suspension modes. So, if you want to be in COMFORT mode, you cannot be in SPORT mode for a quicker throttle input. This essentially solves that issue. I'll fine tune it and let everybody know where it lands. It has 4 settings, Eco, City, Sport and Sport +. Sport + is just stupid, a small throttle input gives you WOT, but I find City -1 is about where the OEM Sport mode is, so essentially I have sport mode and comfort suspension mode.
This unit is Bluetooth so it can be controlled via an iPhone app, so I dont have to mount the ugly controller somewhere I can see it. Its under the dash. Takes literally 5 minutes to install.
I have an '07 LWB, and when doing 0-60 and 1/4 mile runs with the Dragy GPS/app, I have VSC and Traction Control turned off and the Power ECT on. I have to turn the Pedal Commander off or else there's way too much wheel spin on launch. Power ECT ON holds the gear shifts longer (to between 6300-6500rpm) but does little, if anything, to increase the sensitivity of the fly-by-wire throttle. Regardless, the Pedal Commander blows away the Power ECT on with regards to throttle sensitivity.
If you know what a potentiometer is, the Pedal Commander is similar in the way it operates. If I was told I could not spend more than $300 and only on one mod alone, I would choose the Pedal Commander without hesitation. Pair this with the Red Bullets, and I'm pretty sure you'll have a difficult time wiping that grin off your face. I installed it on the left side of the steering wheel so it wouldn't be so visible.
