I think my brake actuator may be going bad...

So I just had my brake actuator replaced under the CPO warranty on my 2013 that had around 43k on it. Part number 44050-50170. The part itself was 2190!
I had no dash lights or problems braking. While driving at slow speeds I could hear what sounded like mechanical noise from the actuator. If I was paying I certainly would not have gotten it replaced unless there was a safety issue.

Someone was asking about the letter regarding this issue that Lexus sent out with the extended warranty. I found my copy and here it is.

Hope this helps

That is disappointing your brake actuator already went on a 2017, shows they never addressed the issue over the years. Wonder what the actual issue is and why they designed it to be so complicated/trouble prone for the LS instead of just using a proven reliable system they have used before.

For you guys with the 10 year warranty, just take it to the dealership. Hopefully they'll just throw in a new actuator for you. It's disappointing that 2013+ are starting to show this "problem." If I every revisit getting a 2013+ Ls460 I'll probably have to get one with actuator already replaced.

Looking for a newer one with the actuator replaced doesn’t make any sense, the issue is less prevalent in newer cars.
As my mechanic explained to me, some actuators “make noise” and some don’t. Mine “made noise” but I had no warnings or issues, and I may never have.
Lexus replaced it because it’s under warranty, but had it been me paying I would have just left it the way it was.

Yeah I agree, I'd be mindful of the brake actuator being replace when I look for a 2013+ It would be a "bonus" if it was replaced. I'd also check for brake fluid flushes amongst other things. Keep in mind 2013+ LS460 are still "young" and some of the old "problems" may still exist or a new expensive one(s) may start to arise.
I believe the 2013+ still uses the same Radiator as the 2007-2012. Could you do us a favor and take at peak at your 2017 and see it the overflow tube is still in a vulnerable location to snap off when changing a serpentine belt? You'd have to take the front engine intake covers off to see it. Thanks

I've had that actuator noise since I got the car 2 1/2 years ago and put 50k miles on her. I did take JLAWS advice and started emptying the reservoir and filling with new fluid but I really don't even think about the actuator until I see another one of these threads.

Question I want to get answerd is, does the warranty extension apply to 2013-2017 LS460? I saw another PDF from google search and it show 2007-2012 LS460.

I could not get Sewell Fort Worth to acknowledge there even is an acutator issue, and the one in my '08 was loud and obvious. Look, brakes DO NOT MAKE NOISE WHILE STOPPED. They said, "are these original, because they don't look like it"... Apparently, they'd never seen an "L" with the sport package on it. Odd, sure, but an available combo.
I never fixed it because I eventually got accustomed to it, and braking performance was much, much better after I put four EBC rotors and Yellowstuf pads on it.
My '12 is silent, but after we move to CO, where high humidity is a theory, I'll completely replace the brake fluid. That's supposed to help, and at 8 years old, it's past time to do it.
