Hello,
So I picked up my 2008 LS 460 yesterday and I looked at the door panel and I was like WOW someone really dug their fingernails into then panel, then I realized it is the melting door panel problem.... in regards to that I have two questions...
1. If Lexus replaces the door panels, doesn't the same problem exist (won't the melting continue on the new panels as they are still made for my year car and that year car has this defect ?
OR
When Lexus replaces the panels with new ones, those new ones are engineered out of a new material that is not suppose to melt ?
If the replacements will melt just as the current ones have, just take longer before they do melt, since they are new, I was thinking of getting the existing, defective panels covered in leather at Fibrenew in Los Angeles.
Has anyone had their panels covered in Leather ?

Unfortunately i imported my ls460 from USA so was not eligible for the recall . Went to a local upholstery store paid around 700 usd for the leather around the door panels looks super clean now

The majority of my panels were swapped long enough to notice no stickiness of any kind. I've since sold the car, so I can't tell you about the future. But what I do know, is Lexus is suing the company who was responsible for the original panels. My guess would be no issues going forward with the new ones.

Yes it very well may take months. In my case it took a good month for the door panels and the dash. Then the rest trickled in over the next few months. But it was so well worth it.

I submitted replacement docs in Nov. Most parts were finally replaced last week. Wow! The dealer did a great job with the installs. 3 of 4 door panels, dash, lower dash panels and glove box. The right rear door panel is on back order. The interior is almost factory new now. Long 9 month wait but definitely worth it. My wife no longer has to wash her hands after touching the doors. Northside Lexus in Houston picked up my car and left me with a ‘19 ES350. They’ve come a long way since my first ES in ‘96. But still can’t compare to the overall quality of my ‘09 LS. I might just hang on to her a little longer. 160k miles and smooth as silk.
