So I have a 2008 LS460 with 111k. The front control arms were replaced 25k ago at a Lexus dealer but one failed recently. I only found out it failed by Carmax checking it out. I don;t know enough about cars to know when of if these parts have failed.
Since I purchased the car as a 2nd owner from Carmax, on Aug 30th, I was obligated to use their 90 day warranty coverage. After 90 days I have a CNA warranty I can use at Lexus, but I purchased the car on Aug 30 so I have a few months to go before I can use my CNA Warranty.
So, Carmax replaced the defective OEM front control arm that Lexus installed around 25k miles ago.
Since that install, I hear a lot more creaking when I go over dips, I hear the creaking from the back now, too. The rear control arms were never replaced.
I don't hear the creaking going over a bump in the road, or hitting a pothole, the dip in the road is when I hear it and it has to be pretty pronounced where the shocks (if I am using the correct term) are compressed as pressure is put on them when I actually go over the dip itself, before the car goes back to level when coming up from the dip
A few questions:
1. I really don't want Carmax touching the car anymore so I have to wait until my CNA warranty kicks in (I have confirmed CNA covers control arms) If drive with bad control arms are bushings for 2 months will that damage the car ?
2, How do I know, exactly if the control arms and bushings are bad ?
3. What feels different about a car that has these parts that have gone bad ?
4. Lastly, the car does not drive as cushionee, live driving a cloud, as it used to, I feel the road and all of its imperfections a lot more than I used to, is this a sign that the control arms and bushings are bad ?
Thank you very much for your insight and answering my questions.
