Default My LS got hit by a driver running red light. Whats next?

My beloved 2011 LS460L got hit. I got a green light, started moving, and by the time reach fastest point of intersection, driver in Hyundai from cross street ran red light and hit my car at 90 degrees. From photos it looks like a front end collision but car was hit on the right headlight/fender area. Fortunately I am doing ok without any injuries. That's all really counts.
Two good samaritans stropped and acted as witness. They confirmed I was in the right and the other driver was in wrong. That really helped because the other driver kept yelling it was green for her. There is no way because for her it was a 3 lane road with cars stopped in the other two lanes. Plus if I have green, there cannot be green for her.

Anyways, I called police. Car was towed to police impound. I called insurance company and they told me to work with the other insurance company after police report to claim. If not, I can claim through my company, GEICO.

This is my first time with such an accident where vehicle got towed. Give me some advise. What should be my next steps? Police report is supposed to come in 7-10 days.
Towing guy said the car is totaled. I think so too. What do you guys think? Driver airbag and knee airbag got deployed.
Do I need to work with Towing company directly? If not, who does?
What should I expect from the other insurance company. How to go about dealing with them? I don't know what is the other insurance company. I will know from the police report. Should have asked but too late.
I have a full coverage including collision and uninsured motorist. No roadside or car rental coverage.

I am really bummed because I take time to find the right car and then keep it for years. I bought this one after looking for more than a year, exactly what I wanted. Black/Black, L, non air, ML, non awd, 19" wheels, 2011+ etc. Anyways, it is what it is. Just need to handle this post accident things as best as I can.

The probability of this being declared a total loss is virtually 100%, so that makes the claim process simpler. You need to marshal evidence of it value and don't forget to seek sales tax on top of whatever figure you demand.

Just go through your GEICO collision coverage. Dont wait 7-10 days. Give them the witness information. They will go after other drivers insurance to pay them back and refund your deductible. She will likely tell her insurance company she had a green so they may not pay anyways despite the witnesses. Sorry to say your car is definitely totalled. Glad you're OK.

first thing is be happy your o.k.
second is you were blessed you were in the LS that impact from the small car on that right side looks intense
if you were in a car similar to that car that hit you, you wouldn't be in same shape you are.

good luck things happen for a reason and you will find a newer 13 model and above for similar money now

glad your ok

That is very helpful.
Does going through my insurance company impact my rates any way? Last time when I had damage and went through my previous insurance company they jacked up my rates.

If police report assigns 100% blame to other driver, can other insurance company still not pay?

No dashacm. I wanted to install front and back cameras but wanted to do it after all the panels get replaced under warrant. It would have been so helpful in this situation.

DO NOT EVEN CALL that guy insurance, you pay Geico to take care of you, don’t ask me how I know this.

Agreed, call your own insurance company. Wont impact your rates.

Glad you're okay! All the more reason I'm glad I have a dashcam.

So sorry to hear! Good news that the LS did it's job protecting you in a collision and you're okay. As others have said, you only deal with your own insurance company. You do not need to worry if Geico gets paid from the other insurance company. Just start looking for the LS you want and print out the comparisons so you can negotiate a good settlement.

Very sorry to read this. Glad you are ok. If it were me, my first step is to hire the best personal injury attorney I know. Hurt or not, you should get a check up. Then have a professional attorney battle the insurance agency. They know all the reps from the insurance companies and can get you top dollar. Just my 2 cents worth.

Sorry for your situation and wish the best to you.

As for running red lights, I see it all the time here is S FL. Recently, while sitting at a stop light that had turned red at least 5 seconds or so earlier, a car came blowing by me that must have been going 60 mph and sped thru the red light. Luckily, he got thru clean. But I can tell you it scared the crap out of me.

Running a red light it is a joke in US, if you do this in Europe you loose you license for at least 3 month, if not even worse. That is one of the reasons I have a dash cam on all of my cars.

Any advise on how to find a good one, preferably in local Atlanta area?
