Default Heat Vents Problem?

HI everyone 07 460

Well it is now the heating season so I just noticed this new problem when i turn the heat on.

The driver side dash vent on the left side of the display blows warm air just fine but the right side of the display vent blows cold air.

And yes I have them set so the driver and passenger side is the same temperature settings.

I am guessing this is not a new thermostat issue because I am getting warm air? It is the original 12 year old thermostat there now.

I briefly read something about a blended actuator being possibly the cause of this?

Can anyone explain what is going on, is it expensive to fix? I have a good local mechanic I use and trust.
thanks for comments

I had this problem except in reverse. All vents on the Drivers side blew cold air and the passenger side blew hot. The previous owner obviously used some kind of stop leak in the cooling system and plugged up the left side of the heater core. I'm not saying thats your issue but it's the worst case scenario. If it's a blend door the HVAC should put out a code. Hold down the auto button on the left side of the of the AC controls while holding down the recirculate button on the right side of the AC controls and start the car. Keep holding these buttons until the lights and the temperature display start to blink repeatedly. If there are fault codes it will display them as number so write them down If there are no codes then it will just flash 00. If one of your blend door servo motors is bad this will definitely tell you. Now depending on which one it is your cost to fix will vary.

sha4000, thank you for your reply, that information helps!

Another question, I note that the venting works perfectly when I turn the air conditioning on.

Both vents blow equally cold air. And because I do have heat I assume my thermostat is just fine.

So can someone explain why this car is built to perhaps unnecessarily complex as to now require
a substantial amount of money to fix this blend actuator thing that only effects divided heating?

I have the L model with backseat separate AC unit. It costs more money because to replace most of the servo motors you have to remove the dash. You can replace 3 of the servos in the bottom of each side without removing the dash but you do have to remove the panels on the side of the center console. I've had the dash off about 5 times in the last month messing with them so it would be a time consuming job for a DIYer but very doable. The dealership or and indie is going to charge labor by the book so there is no way way around it. Lexus wanted 2k to change my heater core but I thought it would be a good learning experience to do it myself and save the money. It's definitely not for the faint of heart.
