I've got a 2011 LS with about 55,xxx miles, its my daily driver sometimes, but just drove the other whip for a week or so and got back into the LS. I noticed this time, that when I start from a stop, it seems the transmission is in 4th gear (when I paddle over to manual shift it indicates the trans is in 4th). I can manually down shift below 4th gear however.

Is it normal to begin from a stop in what I imagine is 4th gear?

I don't think our car have that much torque to start in 4th gear. If you set it to 4th gear, it just mean the transmission won't shift past 4th gear.

Okay, thanks for the reply, I'm very new to this machine and just wanted to make sure it was working right. After I posted the thread, I read something on another forum about how the shifter displays that as the maximum gear it can attain in that mode.
