Default AWD vs RWD Calipers (not sport)

I'm thinking of doing a LS460 caliper swap into my SC430 (with brackets). Looking at the 4 piston calipers, your cars seem to have 2 different front calipers. AWD (N18) calipers and RWD (K17) calipers. They appear to be the same size, use the same pads and rotors, but are just different casting.

Is there any other difference between the two? I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a nice set of RWD ones I found, but I don't want to do it until I know there's no advantage to the AWD calipers.

Thanks!

I have a 2013 AWD L, the front rotor disc size is around 14 inches, the rwd is around 13 inches

That is good information, I didn't realize you had different rotors. You don't happen to have any data on the calipers themselves, do you?

I'll actually be using IS-F 14" Rotors for this kit. The company that makes the bracket says either caliper will work, I'm just curious if one is better than the other in some way. (ie. larger pistons, better design, etc)

I don't have the calipers info but if you are using the ISF rotors, not sure it will fit the LS since the wheels for the LS is 5x120 while the ISF is 5x114.3

It's for a SC430 (5x114.3). That's why you have to use a different 14" rotor, because the 5x120 rotor wouldn't fit.

Got it. I was thinking you want the ISF rotor installed on the LS. My bad
Let me know how that goes. I have a SC430, might do the BBK upgrade

I contacted suprastore and they say they've used both calipers for this setup and they're the same size, the only real difference is the shape of the casting, so maybe one would fit a more conservative offset better, but they don't know for sure which, but they say both should be fine.

Something came up on my big brakes thread on the SC430 forum. The N18 caliper has the pad sitting farther out than the K17 even though the mount points are the same. (To accommodate the larger rotor).

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc4...l#post10750552

XAT has now updated their site to exclude the N18 from their kit.

I wanted to circle back here and post this in case any of you need a replacement caliper and thought they were interchangeable.

Also, I would venture a guess that if you're a RWD LS460, you could likely swap calipers and rotors (same pads) and take advantage of the larger rotor. However, take it from me, the N18 calipers require a large wheel. My oem 18" SC430 wheels wouldn't clear them, the barrel was hitting the top, 19" aftermarket wheels worked fine.
