Sad news
On my way to Des Moines, 10 point buck jumped in front of me while I was doing 70. Slammed on the brakes. ALMOST stopped. But the dummy just stood there.
She's gone. Progressive is totalling her. Farewell to the nicest thing I've ever had, my 2008 LS460.

I have been driving regularly to Des Moines from Missouri on 63N, 36W, and 35N for the last 20 years. Fortunately, I haven't encountered any deer on the roadways. Fingers crossed.

Sorry to see that.
Just like a deer, when you hunt them they spook at the slightest noise or smell but they just stand there in the middle road when they see a 4000lb car heading right toward them. There have been a lot of deer in my yard and woods lately and I don't live in the country, I think coyotes are chasing them into people's yards and into roads more this time of the year.

I feel your pain!!
Exactly this time, 2 years ago (Fall of 2017) I peeled a buck for $8400 in damage, 3 weeks later I got the hot-rod back, drove it 287 miles (2.5 laps to work and back home) then peeled another buck for $9600. It broke my heart twice within 30 days. They fixed them both. The paint probably wasn't even dry on the second hit.
You will find another, just a little better than the other.

Wow, that is very unfortunate. I hope you are okay and can fix it or get a new one soon. I would be very upset if that happened to my ES 350 that I just bought 7 months ago. Just remember, stay positive because unlike you, it can be replaced.

Depending on how much it’s insured for, you might be able to buy another one AND throw some wheels or something at it.
Stay on the bright side. You’re okay, and it’s not a limited edition Sport Design GS getting totaled because an undocumented immigrant with fake insurance read ended it at 15 mph.

When I lived in Polk City, just north of Des Moines, I felt like there was some kind of mass suicide pact going on with the deer there, as they seemed to step out in front of cars constantly. My neighbor's wife had one come through the windshield, causing an arterial gash spraying blood inside their mini-van with 2 little kids in the back, all while kicking and thrashing around giving the wife two broken ribs and assload of cuts. It was like something out of a horror movie. Like the others have said, I'm personally glad you're OK and you can always find another ride to love. Hell, I'm like the others, in that the damage relative to what's on the insurance books has it totaled relative to value vs parts, but I'd take the money and find a "cash" body shop that would bring her back to new.
Whatever you decide, glad you're OK and good luck in your search.
