Even the B58 is more to maintain than the LS460L 2013+?

The issue is not just the engine, it’s everything else. I would agree that overall a BMW with the B58 would cost more to maintain as it ages than an LS460 yes.

That was all I needed to confirm my purchase. First Car ES350. Second Car LS460L. I cannot stop watching LS460 videos.

When I started out I got an ES300 when what I wanted was an LS, it was between a new ES300 or a CPO 3 year old LS400. I chose the ES for cost of fuel and maintenance and it let me lease vs having to buy which was important to me for taxes. It was the right choice, the car was super reliable and economical while still being luxurious and enjoyable. I actually still have that old ES300, my mom drives it and it has over 220,000 miles on it. I got my moneys worth out of that car!

ES350 is what I settled on for 1st car or maybe I'll go all in on the LS460L. I really wanted that AWD though
If you buy a used 460 you will likely need all those items I mentioned, all the older ones I've seen needed that practically that whole list. Adjust your pricing with that in mind

No that's not the issue, the whole car is just on a different level. Personally though I would buy a B58 engine over a 1UR

If you buy an older bagged out 460 that hasn't been maintained over the years you will certainly have expensive issues to deal with like any other upper end mass produced car, you should spend some time reading the es350 forums to get a better idea of what those people have to deal with.

Also, if you like the ES you should look at the Avalon...same size same engine less attitude if you have to go to the dealer for service....

What they deal with is dramatically less and cheaper than what LS460 owners deal with.

Of course but they aren't trouble free, it's not like the repairs that the 460 will need have to be redone every few years unless they are done poorly or parts quality are compromised by using aftermarket sources.

Nothing is trouble free, but they are about as trouble free as a car can be. Very simple, proven components. It’s like owning a Camry because it is a Camry.

You just have to be prepared for the costs of owning an LS460. If you can put your hands on $3k at anytime and you’re comfortable doing that, then it’s a great car.

And a totally inferior end product. Major difference in sound deadening and materials etc, suspension is not as smooth ether

Well sure, but not everybody wants to or can shoulder the cost of maintaining a car like the LS. The ES has its place.

From what I've read here most people seem shocked when they get a repair quote but know almost exactly how much the car was worth new and never seem to make the connection between the two, It's a status symbol until something goes wrong.
I bought backing plates for my corolla and for fun checked the price for the same part on my 460, there's no difference in the build and not much in size either....Highway Robbery...
