Now I know Consumers report is not always right. But over the years still find them more right then wrong. And just as reliable in their ratings as any place.

Happen to see a recent issue.

The IS is rated at the very top. But the new LS pretty much rock bottom and even below the S class. The Genesis G90 was rated morethan twice as good. At 49 points vs the LS at 19 .

What a waste to see a car that was always rated the best to go so low.

Sad to see, what were these points based on ? I doubt its reliability because the car is still so new

I believe I read the LS is now the lowest rated in the Lexus lineup overall for reliability as well.

Makes perfect sense to me, it's trying to be sporty and "tight" when the whole point is comfort and ease of driving. If I want something fun/sporty I would not look at lexus at all, they ruined the thing that people liked about the car.

There's another thread over on the LS500 forum about this. I have contacted CR for clarification on the low reliability score. Seems to be a mistake to me, as none of the sub categories have low marks.

World is going crazy. Just the idea that I will need to buy a Hyundai if I want to have the old Lexus quality. Well at least we save some money.

That's the problem when trying to cater to a different demographic besides the one that has traditionally bought the LS. It is most likely still a very nice and reliable car but really geared toward a different crowd. What's crazy to me is that on the highway i zoom buy all the BMWs, MB, Porsches, etc... all cruising at the speed limit or below sometimes who act like they are scared to death to go over 2000 rpms. The ones that try to keep up can only stomach the higher speeds for a couple of minutes before they just fall back. What's the point of trying to be more sporty when the ppl driving the freaking cars don't even drive spirited???

I wouldn’t put a whole lot of stock in this, personally.

I remember many years ago someone told me not to buy a certain stock. Said it had poor reviews. Glad I didn’t listen. Thanks google. 😉

I don't get the whole let's make a car sporty to go after a demographic that doesn't exist.

No one sees a Lexus overall and says look at that sports car.

I want comfort, quality, and reliability above all else.

I guess if you want a LS, you'll have to stick with the previous V8 generation which is superior. Maybe the 2019 Avalon or ES is a better bet than the new LS overall.

In related news, they made adjustments to the suspension of the LS500 for 2020 to increase ride comfort.

Avalon and ES still don’t feel anything like the LS.
