So I was driving yesterday in the rain with outside temperature approximately 40 degrees, probably 30 minutes into my 1 hour trip (30 miles to go, highway speed) the warning to add engine oil turns on. I pulled over, turned off the car and grabbed my spare oil quart. Checked my oil and it was at the half way point between low and full. I did not add oil and restarted the car and went on my way for the rest of the trip, no warning came back. This morning I checked it and it was a little less than half between the marks. Car has been running the same (No new ticks, thunks, clunks, or click and clacks), the error has not come back. Has anyone ran into this before? This is a little above 5000 miles since last oil change, maintenance light came on a few days ago, Toyota genuine used for all oil changes.

Sounds like a bad sensor if the oil level is OK.
