well, I would stay away form the first year of a new model or a major redesign. usually some kinks show up in a new car and the manufactures takes a year or three to iron them out. by 2012 all the issues in the new LS introduced in 2007 should have been addressed, corrected, or recalled for free.
I understand in 2013 LS got a face lift. I just purchased a 2016 LS 460 with 21K miles on it and so far so good. everything works, I mean EVERYTHING in it works, I spent good several days checking as I was learning the car. I hope it stays that way

2011 is really the best year. 2012 are unnecessarily more expensive and some of then don't make sense as their prices are in 2013+ territory. Even late 2010 are good.
This give ability to get new melting plastics under the program too.
Of course, newest is always going to be better if you can budget it.
Sedan market appears to be really beaten. I was thinking of getting RX350 but found out that used RX are overpriced and used LS are underpriced. I got 2016 LS for not much more than what 2016 RX costs.

could you elaborate on the prices of 2016 LS 460 please? I just got one a week ago, base model with few extra options (comfort front seats, all weather package, 19" rims) and 21,000 miles on it for about 2K less than what KBB said it should be. I would like to hear from others regarding what a fair price for that vehicle is.

Yours is a low mileage car and those always attract premium. Form my estimate it should be around $37K +- 2K. You bought your car therefore just enjoy it, don't worry about the fair price.

I keep my cars for 10+ years therefore I am never worried about resale value except for the insurance purpose in case of a total loss. Mine is with 87K miles.

Really very different vehicles though, and that just goes to show you crossovers vs sedans.

I have a sample size of 1 since purchasing my first Lexus in January of this year; I got a 2016 LS 460 SWB / RWD with 21K miles on it; I've put about a thousand miles on it so far, it's my daily commuter and my wife uses it when I'm home, so far the only issue I had was the clunking sound when turning (you can find my post on this site about the issue) but that turned out to be a loose bolt causing a splash guard panel to move around so it was easily fixed by the dealer. Otherwise the car has been 100% reliable and just a blast to drive. I think any LS will be a great buy, but of course the newer the better, with as little miles as possible. Good luck!

i also think the LSs are selling under price here in canada. I keep looking at the classified ads, some stay for sale forever (at a reasonnable price that Id sure pay! ) But the ones that sell are priced ridiculously low, under 10k US for cars that have only 150k miles. The last one I saw at 8k CAD, 200k Kilometres, (Long wheel base) stayed for sale less than 24hours.

I think the most reliable LS is my 2012, and you can buy it from me for only $3000 over KBB dealer price.
