That one looks pretty nice, but again its $5,500 over your budget. In order to get it OTD for $20k you have to get them to accept an offer thats almost 30% less than their list price. Not gonna happen.

The car doesn't have ML upgraded stereo. The premium system is the base/non ML system. Plus the cost of a mechanic to inspect it, no idea what the under carriage, shocks, tires and brakes look like. Add those potential costs in as well. If the buyers out the door price is set at $30k. In reality, $27000, PLUS estimated 7% tax $1890, registration $400, title $100 = $29,390. Plus independent mechanic's pre-inspection $100. (not optional in my opinion). That's if it doesn't need tires, brakes or any other maintenance or repairs. Hope this helps the buyer to find a car that he likes and is under budget. I can respect a firm budget.

The problem with Private sales is that you lose your privacy. Buyer has trouble with any car and returns
to the point of sale for a remedy. Don't want a knock on the door after selling a car privately do you?
Even meeting at the local Cop Shop for the test drive, mechanic check up and title/funds transfer ends
up with you handing over the title...with your name and address on it. (OK if you moved, right?)
In Illinois at least, trading in a car lowers the tax paid on the new car. Selling it outright demands that
you ask and get the trade-in value X the tax % or you are coming out behind.
All this to say that the seller wants what KBB/Edmunds said "Excellent Retail" value was. You might try
a tease...what brand of coffee do you brew for me while you are washing her up like the Lexus dealer does?

you can ask whatever you want for a car doesnt mean you going to get it. The advantage of getting from a private seller is you get it for cheaper than a dealer and the advantage of getting one from a dealer is inspection , warranty , if something goes wrong within the first couple of days etc
You currently have a 2008 LS460L right? Are you trading it in or will you be selling it Can we see pics?

I apologize, for some reason I was calculating on $30k. Your budget is $20k. So, $18k plus 7% tax $1260, registration and title, $400 = 19660. You mentioned you had hired inspections, was my estimate of $100 correct for your town? I do hope you find what you want at the price you can afford. Patience may be your best ally.

There are a few links, I apologize if I got it wrong. I was talking about the silver one, cars.com/craigs list, $21,900, 106,300 miles. No ML.
Edit: apparently, different links are coming thru as the same car for me.very odd

There aren't many LS460/LS460L for sale privately. I gave up on looking privately and actually got a much better deal at a dealer.
Here is one in your price range and has been in the market for a while if you are ok with AWD.

Based on my recent experience, there are good deals at non-Lexus new car dealers who get Lexus as trade-ins and plan to try selling it instead fo sending them to auction. Time passes and before they send it to an action, they might cut you a good deal. Look for ones that are 60+ day with them.
