If you are looking to get into the changes brought on by the 13-17 and keep your budget low, then yes it's a great year to buy. In 16 & 17, there are a few newer features, one of which is a full screen map view. Good luck.

I just got a 2013 under $30k and 60k miles and I love it. I had an LS once before and loved that as well .The 2013 is nice because of price point, the availability of low mileage and it being a well tested version before a new model makeover.

Have you done a search for wind noise? I believe it was an issue on older models but may help you.

Actually it’s a very common issue with the LS460. There is a really easy fix but the source did the wind noise is the A pillars.

Correct, that should not be an issue with a 13+. Mine has no wind noise.

My mistake. I was referring to the 2007-2012 LS460.

Hi all...I am about to buy a 2013 LS460 from Carmax. It has 56K miles on it. Black with tan leather interior. Has been in Louisiana all its life so far. I had it transferred up here to Atlanta to test drive. It looks pretty much brand new best I can tell from zooming in on their website. The price is $29K. Couple of questions:

1. Is this a fair price?
2. Should I add the extended warranty to 150k miles that covers all major systems for $2,400? That policy has a $300 deductible each trip to the dealer. So there could be multiple problems bit I would pay only the $300 per visit.

Thanks so much for any feedback...

The price is in the ballpark considering the benefits of Carmax. A bird in hand... Does it have all the options you'd like? Go to drivers.lexus.com and type in the VIN number, you'll get a history of maintenance ( not necessarily complete) and all the options on your car also check the carfax for accidents(provided by Carmax). Lot's of opinions on maintenance contracts(it's not really a warranty). If you put that $2400 plus $300 copay in a savings account, You may never touch it for the time frame equivalent to the warranty plus it applies only to major systems, that leaves out a lot of uncovered things (far from comprehensive/coverall protection).

Great advice...thank you ! This is the only item I found that is recent.....10/15/2019 and the car was at 55k miles...so just 1k miles ago....could this be bad that they did not certify? No idea......why didn't Lexus of New Orleans sell it on their lot? They also performed a full detail that same day..

We can only guess why a Lexus dealer sent this car to auction other than it would cost too much to bring the car mechanically to CPO specs or it had some serious damage that eliminates it from CPO. Car fax might show accident history but it does take some time for the paper trail to catch up. Have it inspected by an independent mechanic. Carmax does warranty the sale, read the fine print.

Thank you all for the feedback. I called the dealer that had the history in NOLA and talked to a sales manager. He confirmed that they send cars to auction all the time for many different reasons. No reason to see a red flag. Might have been as simple as they had plenty in inventory at the time. But, I will get it inspected by a dealer and Carmax has the 7 day return policy for any reason.
