Default Just HOW quiet is a Lexus Ls460?

Hey everyone, I currently own a 2009 Bmw 3 series and was looking to possibly buy a 2012 Ls460. Does anyone have any stories or experience with how quiet/refined their Ls460 was compared to their previous vehicle? Very Low wind/road noise is my main priority.

This topic is was covered just one month back try searching for it

LS460 is much more refined compared to bmw3 no road noise no wind noise the car is so well designed . Windows are doubled up for that purpose

I would recommend you to test drive and be a judge yourself

A well-maintained LS will always be quieter than a 3 series. Road noise can be alleviated on any car by decreasing wheel size and increasing tire aspect ratio and making sure all NVH bushings are intact or replaced.

I agree with this statement. Lexus cabin is really quiet. Was just in my friend’s new Bentayga and that was completely silent in the cabin until he started to rev up, just a solid SUV that handles like a sports car but he did spend over $200k.

One month into ownership of my '12 460 having previously driven the best of Volvo and of Saab and in my stable. The LS is by far the quietest and cushiest car of all I've driven. She puts me to sleep on my long hauls whereas I could drive for 24 hours straight before. The only problem I have with the car is the extra hotel stays I now must pay for.

Kind of off-topic but Rolls Royce cars are so quiet that you could hear the ticking on the clock in the interior

Same year they are not, only recently have they started being able to tie Lexus. Should have been more specific that I meant in the same model year.

Depends on the year LS460 you're talking about. Mines a 2017, and a 2017 7 Series is absolutely as quiet as my LS.

Cars are a lot quieter than they used to be, and all of those similar flagship cars are all pretty much as quiet as each other.

I just drove a new S450 and while it may be slightly quieter than my LS (bear in mind new tires vs tires with 37k on them etc) its not so different that my LS no longer feels incredibly quiet.

My 2014 F Sport is not quiet. But it could be a couple of things. One could be the tires, but more than likely I think I hear wind noise. The LS460 should be very quiet.

When the new '07 LS460 came out I remember reading several car reviews stating the LS was slightly quieter than a RR.

It was, but the newer ones are on another level.

Funny story, I was on a road trip with my cousin and I kept heating this ticking, like a watch ticking. It was driving me nuts. What could it be? He has an artificial heart valve and it ticks. Thats what it was. Car has to be pretty quiet to hear somebody's heart valve ticking at 80 MPH lol
