Default Wind noise or my tires?

Folks, I could use some of your insight. I own a 2013 LS460 45K miles or so. I recently replaced tires about a month ago - Michelin AS3 sport...All has been fine until...last week as I hit above 80 MPH I started hearing wind noise sort of like a whistle. Doesn't matter what type of road or where am I driving. Once I cross 80+mph the noise starts. Is it possibly the tires? I know previous year vehicles had wind noise issues, but I understood those to be resolved. Has anyone with 2013+ years come across this issue? I'm not sure if I should take it to dealer (they really don't wan to see me again after the actuator issue) or back to discount tires. I'd appreciate insight from anyone else who has encountered this issue.

My guess, anyone (repair shop) will tell you that exceeding the speed limit is the problem (whether true or not). That's their way of not dealing with something of this nature.(something that's subjective). That probably leaves you with guesses from other members. A tough problem to resolve.

Is it a high pitched whistle? Does it go away if you apply the brakes?

Yes, high pitched whistle. Goes away once I go below 80mph.

Try lightly applying the brakes at that speed and see if that stops the noise

Tire noise can certainly be frustrating, although a whistle isn't typically the noise create by a tires' contact patch. I would be happy to provide further assistance. PM coming your way.

So happy to be wrong about no business being willing to step up. Kudos to Discount Tire.

Discount Tires is the way to go in my book. My son had a flat and pulled in quickly to a DT. Even though the tires didn't come from there, they fixed it at no charge. My wife had the same experience. We recently had them put new tires on her car and I'm sure I'll be working with them on mine when the time comes. In fact, I plan to see if someone from Discount Tires will ride with me to learn if the noise I'm hearing is from these tires. Great company!

To SW17LS....Was this an attempt at humor? If so, I went to see Carlos Mencia this weekend. He was funny..your response, not so much :-)

No...not trying to be funny.

A few people including me have had an issue where we have a high pitched whine/whistle noise at high speeds, that goes away below certain speeds that is stopped by lightly applying the brakes.

Mine was solved by replacing the rotors and pads.

Oops sorry for the assumption. When i tap the brakes I'm below 80mph and noise stops. I'll stop by Discount Tire tomorrow to see if they have any insight. Thanks for insight!

Try waiting until you hear the noise and very lightly apply the brakes and see if it immediately makes the noise stop. I bet it does.

Does it sound like this?

It’s more of a whistling sound than that. The videos I posted were exactly the sound I was having that turned out to be the brakes.

When really crazy problems come up, I'm reminded that we do have a few members who are true experts. Better than Lexus service by far. We also have lot's of well intentioned folks here who aren't. In this case you got the real deal!! I'm grateful for that.
