I have no idea, but whatever it costs it needs to be done.

My guess is no more than $250.

Check your door switches that black rubber covered thing on the door frame, press it in the door light goes off, it has play up and down and flickers etc then you need to replace it. That's a good place to start.

Replaced battery that read 14-15v on 14 LS460. Wouldn’t start and just barely cranking. Used a booster to start up every time. Got a new “Lexus” battery (lol) from dealer. Running strong even after several days being stationary. Have had it almost 2 months now.

Lexi are notorious for parasitic drains on batteries, the best bet is to get a battery tender and leave it on the car if it's not going to move for more than 2 weeks, trust me on this one.

As for it quickly discharging a battery, I'd check that all grounds are good, secure and corrosion free and also check the already mentioned areas where a switch may not be functioning correctly. Don't forget the trunk, been there, done that.

I went to the dealer. They would not perform the TSB for me. When asked how much it was, the rep would not say. He told me I just have to drive the vehicle, I said it’s not normal to have a battery drop that low in 4-5 days and the car would be dead. He kept repeating: “well you have to drive it.”

I asked if I can just have the TSB performed anyway, he said they can not do it unless my vehicle exhibits “other” issues.

I have a really bad dealer and have to escalate this crap to corporate now.

I’ve had 6 lexuses including 2 GS’s and 3 LS’s. This battery issue is an outlier for me.

So, how long do you think an LS460L should be able to go between drives?

I’ve had my other 2011 LS and 2007 GS go two weeks and they both cranked up fine when I got back in the country even on batteries that were +2 years old.

I found that after I retired and we used my wife's car for most regular trips, my LS would be dead after a week or so. I had TSB L-SB-00614-13 done at my request (no questions asked) and that solved the problem. Unfortunately, I discovered this well after the four-year free update period so I had to pay around $200 for it if I remember correctly.

Well. To be honest I have cars that can sit for 6-12 months that start so at least 2 would be reasonable

INSIST that they do the TSB and threaten to report them to corporate if they don't. Enduring a known, solvable problem is unacceptable.

I think it’s very likely that a “good” battery, one that has a fully charged SOC greater than 75%, would reliably start the car after 4 or 5 weeks. Most batteries that are 2 years old or newer have a fully charged SOC that is greater than 75%. Batteries with lower SOCs have proportionally shorter times. Have you measured your battery’s SOC when you first park it? You can get the SOC using a voltmeter or a hydrometer, and a temperature compensated state of charge lookup table. If the SOC is low that would be an indication of a defective battery or a defective charging system.

There are lots of SOC lookup tables available on the Internet.

There is a good table here: https://www.meeknet.co.uk/E38/State%20Of%20Charge.pdf

^ for some reason, some technicians don't seem to look at TSBs (or just completely forget they exist) if the vehicle is 4 years or older lol. Here is the TSB for certain 2013 model year LS460/L vehicles attached to this post.

Yeah this car was brought to lexus twice for the same issue back in 2015-2016 (well within the 4 year period) and dealer kept replacing the battery instead of the TSB. I brought a printout of the TSB and showed it to the rep. He pretty much ignored it. They charged my battery which appears to still hold at 95% capacity and off I went. I’m going to try to bring this to another dealer then proceed to corporate after if denied again.

My car sits in the garage sometimes a week sometimes more. This is the same for my 430, 08 460 and this 14 460. No issue with batteries. I will say that my 08 had the dreaded bad door switch. One night after parking the car a few hours prior, the headlights were still on. That will kill a battery.
