I have been quite happy with my 2007 LS460, but there's a few features that I'm missing, including adaptive cruise control and HUD. The interior of the LS500 sure looks nice to me online, as well.
Has anyone else driven the LS500 after owning an LS460 for a while? I am interested in how the acceleration and quietness compare.
Thanks!

I own a '10 LS460L. I test drove a used base model '18 LS500 about two weeks ago. The 500 is quicker, quieter, firmer steering and definitely more sportier to drive. Very impressive to drive but not as roomy as the 460. That new look is finally beginning to grow on me. I hope you get the opportunity to drive one.

I've driven the LS500 several times. I think they are beautiful inside and out, but the 500 is very different from the 460. The 500 is much tighter inside, the roof is very low and the rear seat room is much tighter despite it being larger on the outside.
From a ride and drive perspective, its sportier, firmer riding and not as quiet. The 500 measures 2 dB louder at 70 MPH than my 460L (60 vs 58). Its designed to not be as detached from the road. Powertrain isn't quite as refined as the 460, more engine note designed in, etc. I've tried hard to like the 500 because I like how they look, but its just not for me.
Not to say that its a bad car, its not...it just doesn't feel like an LS. Feels like something someone would compare to an Audi A7 or something like that. I wouldn't buy one, when the time comes to move on from my 460L I will go to an SUV or an A8/7 Series/S Class.

I would sit in and drive them both and see what you think.

Here's a review of the 500h that I happened to watch yesterday. I know it's not the exact same as the gas-only model, but I agree with a lot of what they say about it.

The new LS is a disaster compared to the LS460/600HL. I know about three LS600HL owners ho was waiting for this car, and they all ended up with a used LS600Hl again after driving it. It doesn't look like a limousine with clean easy lines anymore, to much overkill with extreme lines.

Then you get to space, sure he has tons of space in the car with the passenger seat shoved up and nobody sitting there. In my LS460L he would have that space with the passenger seat occupied. He could cross his legs back there and be 6 inches from the front seats with people sitting in them adjusted for their own comfort. There is literally no space configuration where everybody isn't totally comfortable. In the 500, with the front seats adjusted for comfort of the front seat passengers you can't cross your legs in the back without hitting the setbacks in front. Similar to a SWB LS460, except the car is 2 inches LONGER than a LWB LS460, and 7 inches longer than a SWB LS460.
Then it comes down to...its not fast or sporty either. When you push it it doesn't reward in that way, so why take the ride penalty for no payoff?
Extremely frustrating because like I said I love the way they look, I love the interior

The roof line is very low, and in the front even the top of the roof as it meets the windshield is very low. It makes it feel sportier, but thats not really how a flagship sedan should feel IMO
