I bought 1990 LS400, white with the Nakamichi sound system, it had grey interior. Loved that car, a pleasure to own and drive, bought used and kept it till 170k miles and gave it to my in-laws, it was totaled in an accident. Had several MB, BMWs and a 911 Porsche GTS. In my opinion Lexus was the only car that needed minimum repair during ownership followed by the Porsche.
98-2000 were great cars as well, that is when they first had the Navigation system.

I do like 13+ facelift front and back design that’s why I bought it. It fits my age group well (late 30s). You have the comfort and V8 of Lexus best without suffering the look of the older design.
Now the LS500 is a different story. I have no desire to own or test drive it. I’m sure it’s faster but I’m not a fan of the exterior design. And that fact that’s it V6 TT instead of V8 TT still bothers me.

The '13+s have the perfect hint of aggressiveness while still being the classic, quiet cruiser the LS always was.
The magazines can slam it but I want an isolation chamber as a car, a car whose mission is to soothe me.
If I wanted a sports car I'd buy one.
Back when I would work a 12 hour shift on my feet mostly, I remember getting into my comfy car and the soothing drive home. That's what I want.
I assume the LS460 is the same but I was out on the interstate yesterday, the way these things handle expansion bumps is extremely impressive. The way the car "dips" and the refined way the suspension rebounds is amazing.

I disagree sir, the steering wheel, and nav system and electronics are a huge upgrade, but surprisingly, I don't miss them on my car I enjoy it that much.. the classiness and when I took photos of the 2010 vs a 13 both the front end and the rear are nicer pre 13, one mans humble opinion. and have to say sexy as ___ with windows down
Otherwise that I love the 2014....and if you owned one, you also would be singing a different tune...

Thats our assumption, but nobody knows for sure.
My ML in my 2017 is great but I never had an earlier 460 to compare.

I've seen the 13+ with that painted divider in person and I don't care for it. I really like the contrast on my silver one.
Personally, I think the 13-17 car is much better looking than the older LS460s. Nothing against them, they're just really bland and the 13-17 looks much sharper and more modern. Inside its the same way, and the materials are better in the 13-17. A 13-17 you would mistake for a current design where the older models you wouldn't.

The 07 cars look terrible.
The 10-12 are a little better, but the 13-17 really hit it out of the park. Not only the beautiful front end, but the gorgeous rear taillights.
I keep shopping 13-17 LS460 L in Matador red. Though I would LOVE a LS600hL, in the 13-17, still quite pricey and rare.
----------
- Same happened in the LS430 years. The first years, were terrible looking. The 05-06LS430 I had, were the best looking of that generation.
- Same can be said about the LC/LX 200 series. The 08s look terrible. The mid cycle looks ok. The 16+ looks fantastic.
Maybe the lesson is, the final iteration, looks the best, before the full model change over

I think the '10-12s look great still but they are conservative in a way the '13+s aren't. The '13+ cars will just continue to look better and better to me as time goes on.
The '07-09 models look bad, especially with those rims. I like the taillights on the earliest 460s and the overall view from the rear, though.

sometime over the weekend ill post the photos I took at dealer of pre and post 13 facelift front and rear with both cars next to each other.
for a lot of people the elegance, classiness, clean look, of of the rear and front of pre 13 are superior. its not about what you own, its what you feel.
something either moves you or doesn't.. as an example, I walk up to my car and I am emotionally connected to it in a good way with the presence, the look, the subtle elegance without trying like the 13 plus do in front end in particular.
look at the ls500 forum, about as much passion and excitement as the 6th gen ES, Why emotion lacking and inspiration of the new ls500.. I happened to like some of the things of the car but when I see it on the road, im turned off with the rear end of the car.. If the post 13, had the new grill of the ls500 that would be ideal... I find it interesting that because of the pre 13 understated grill and edge that those that own the post 13 really think its good looking in front end.. its actually below average it looks like something that doesn't belong

Pre and Post world war,
It does not matter what others think but how you feel about your car be it 13+ or 12-, I love my 13 LS460 and I am sure if I had pre 13 I would have felt the same otherwise I would have gotten rid of it. The most I felt at the time for a car was the 1990 LS400 which I thought at the time the best ever, and I owned prior to that 1977 MB 280S and 1986 BMW 535i, both cars did not leave an impression with me that the Lexii did.
The new LC500 is a looker and I don't care about the inside space, but I want a V8 and I don't like Turbo engines, money is not an issue in my decision, the more important factor is how I felt about the car and the 13+ did it for me.

Nobody is knocking the '10-'12+, either. Or the '07-'09. They're all great cars. But Lexus went cheap with the interior until 2013, it was unacceptable to me personally. I could spend an hour listing examples. That ugly grey metal looking plastic by the vents is one.

the interior of the 2010 I have is comfortable, elegant, functional, and from a 1-10 I rate it a 8. Nothing is cheap about it, the two knocks that are more related to age of the design are the steering wheel is too large, I prefer the one in the 13, and the seat comfort is good not great, my BMW seats are much more supportive for long drives
