Default Help identify the source of the leak on this picture

Greetings,
Upon inspection of my upper control arms (which I'll be replacing) I noticed a small area on the passenger side where oil seems to be leaking just above the oil pan and next to the inner CV joint (the bottom of the oil pan is dry and it don't look like if come from the CV joint as the rubber is in good condition). It's not enough to actually drip on the ground but I'd still like to figure out the source. The cable that goes up on the picture have oil on it all the way up until I cannot see it anymore. Here is some picture (ps: the black spots on the third picture is coating and not oil):

Looks like it's part of the oil dripstick

It does seems to follow the path of the oil dipstick but would that be the differential located here and connected to the CV axle ? Maybe it's actually differential fluid, I never toyed with that mechanical area of the car yet.

It's the engine oil dipstick tube, the tube may have rusted through higher up near the top - or the O-ring sealing the tube into the oil pan is cut. On AWD cars the axle goes through the oil pan (and it even contains a bearing which is retained by that snap ring).

This does seems like a plausible explanation, or I recall overfilling a few years ago and had to pump some oil through the tube and maybe some spilled. I'm not sure if oil can actually take years to dry, and I never had to add any oil ever so if there is a leak it must be very small.
