I have my side mirrors set to fold on door lock. I know they touch the window when they fold in but wasn't too bothered about it until yesterday. I folded the mirrors in with the windows open yesterday and saw how far past the window the passenger side mirror would fold in... which is quite far past the plane of the window itself. Now I'm a little worried about stressing the motor when it tries to fold the mirror in so much further than the window will allow.
Is there a way to adjust where the mirrors stop folding?
I don't think its something you can adjust. Sounds like the motor is going bad has some sort of stop sensor. When i took mine apart to fix the wobble with the new screws i do not recall seeing a way to adjust anything. My passenger once and awhile goes crazy. I just turned off the auto fold feature. Also when it didn't fold correctly it threw off the view on the mirror after it tilted down in reverse. I would have to readjust the mirror for normal use.

That would be disappointing, but maybe you're right. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like the motor is struggling in any way other than going too far.
Does everyone else's mirrors stop before touching the window glass?
My wing mirror on the passenger side also touches the glass, and like yours, goes even further if the window is open.
The plastic mirror cover has a crack, so obviously it has taken some kind of an impact at some point of its life, but I suppose these can fail otherwise as well. Lexus Tallinn (who in my experience have a very nice "why replace it if it can be repaired" attitude) looked at it and said they can't fix the mechanism. Can't remember the exact explanation for why it wasn't repairable, something about the motor and gears perhaps.
Unfortunately, it appears the parts are not available separately, so one has to purchase an entire wing mirror to replace it.
