Please help me think through the above audio systems and if it’s worth it at all.
is a 2012 ls460, one with 19 spks ML Reference and the other with Lexus Premium 8 speakers.
Would Lexus just place regular speakers in their LS or that Premium is real premium than in previous LS models? Or is ML better as to the equalizers? I want a clear sound which has clear equilibriums of sounds not really the Bass without sound quality.
What is my best bet?

I have had both systems. The "Premium" is the base system, the ML is MUCH better. Heads and shoulders better.

I agree with SW17LS that the Mark Levinson will be much better however it is noted on the forum that the 2010 to 2012 ML system is not as good as prior 2007-2009 years and I have to agree and feel the same about my 2011 LS460. It's good but its not outstanding. I honestly think the ML system in my 2001 and 2006 LS430 was actually better.

It also depends on what you listen to. Satellite radio and MP3s actually sounded better in my 15 LS460 with the standard audio, but high bitrate content, CDs and streaming lossless audio sound MUCH better from the ML.

The ML in the 2010 460 is good. Not great. Slightly better than the Pioneer system in the 2nd gen LS400. Inferior to the Nakamichi system in the 1st gen LS400. Also not nearly as good as the Bose system in the 2nd gen Acura TL.
I don’t do streaming lossless, just MP3s from a USB stick. I never listen to the radio, ever. Just my experience.

Personally I love my ML in my 2010 LS. I’ve always upgraded my sound systems with amps., speakers, subwoofers with custom boxes, and upgraded headunits. Although I’ve thought of dropping a subwoofer in the trunk, I’ve never went though with it as I’ve been very pleased with the crisp sound and bass of the ML
When I was in the market to buy a LX, I specifically looked for one with the ML system. There are many people here that would attest to this.

The ML system is an excellent unit. Pop a DVD movie in THX and take a listen. It will blow your pants off. My ML system in my 08 was hands down better than the Nak in my LS400 no question.
