Believe it or not, it is almost impossible to distinguish between a 500 and an ES just by looking at the exterior. With the ES also copying the aggressive design of a LS, I thought to myself what kind of people would spend that much for a LS while he/she could have got 2 ES?

The LS460's styling was a revelation when it came out. The styling trickled down to other Lexus and even Toyota models, and more than a few Hyundai models that copied the design to the point of confusion.

Nice to hear Lexus is at least covering half of the expense. In this case, it's good to be replacing the compressor with Lexus OEM unit as well as having the work done by them. Will be documented and most likely be better for resale/maintenance records/carfax, should you decide to sell it. Hoping the best for you once the repair is complete and in your process to sell the car and get something better for yourself if you go that route.

Glad Lexus stepped up to the plate and helped you out. I had a feeling they would.

As for the ES, I have had two ESs and have driven the new ones plenty of times, they are nice cars but the LS is a much better car. Smoother, quieter, more refined, more solid, RWD vs FWD, much better powertrain, better interior, better paint. I would never go back to an ES having had the LS. With that said, they are much less sophisticated and therefore cheaper to repair and maintain. If the benefits of the LS don’t register with you, then get an ES. That would make a lot more sense than getting an older LS430 because you’re concerned about reliability.

The reason I chose the ES both times I did was it being cheaper to maintain. I’m considering replacing my LS460L with a new Mercedes S560 and I’m a little concerned about increased costs from the LS, and I have a lot of financial resources. There’s a right time in your life for everything and it sounds like you stepped into the LS before the time was right for you.

Hi, this is me, Tiffany again. Hope everyone is staying healthy.

I should have given you all an update that my car can be driven again but last week was too hectic for me to deal with any personal matters. Sorry for the picture quality. Other than the camera and few cracks on the screen, my phone works otherwise after a small accident. Hope my baby will live up to the name as a successor of Toyota Celsior instead of deciding to have this broken today and another part broken the following week... After this height compressor horror, I have been a paranoid measuring the gap between the tyres and fenders whenever I have the time. Nothing horrible happens yet. Fingers crossed.

Glad to hear that things worked out fairly well. Yours is my favorite color, one never offered on the LS 600h L, at least not in the U.S.

Nice ride Tiffany. I read through and sorry to hear you were discouraged but happy now. I truly believe the LS is one of the cheapest flagship cars to maintain and own. Thats compared to say the MB S class, BMW 7 series and Audis.
