Hello Friends, Im from India and been looking for a Lexus forum worldwide and was pointed here. I have two X5s and the newer one (F15 with warranty till end 2021) has constant problems and I want to get rid of it. Thinking of jumping into the Lexus hybrid bandwagon for reliability. That said there is a 2009 mfg LS600HL for sale here with 20k km. I know giving up an-in warranty car for this may sound irrational but out of warranty my resale price would be very low so want to get rid of the X5. Also my older E70 is rock solid and want to keep that.
The LS600 is out of warranty on everything but very low mileage. Do you think the hybrid battery and electricals will still be OK at this age of 11 years? Not too worried about the mechanicals. Any advise appreciated. Stay safe.

Welcome. Wow, a 2009 with only 20k km--that's amazing.

Welcome to CL!

I think the key thing to be concerned with is the hybrid battery. From what I've read here, 10 years seems to be end of life for it.

the upside is that it seems to use Prius cells, if I’m not wrong.. that helps with parts availability for repairs

While at least one member here has adapted Prius cells to a 600, the factory replacement is unique to the 600.

To the OP - it's a crapshoot. Does low mileage help or hurt hybrid life? Is low mileage better or worse than the 81,000 mileage on my 600? Perhaps a hybrid expert knows, but anecdotal claims here are nothing but that.
