What's people's opinions on the difference between the LS460 and LS500 and what they like better? I know the 500 went to the V6 twin turbo vs the V8, other than that what were some of the big differences or are there any? I prefer the look of the 460 but would prefer the turbo motor, either way I would go with the F Sport that is a for sure. Any insight would be great.

The LS500 and LS460 are really different. The 500 is firmer and sportier, the interior is tighter compared to an LS460L (the LS500s are all long wheelbase). If you were comparing to an F Sport 460 then rear legroom will be similar to the 500 because the LS460 F Sports are all short wheelbase.
The 460 has a different feel than the 500, feeling more like a traditional flagship car like an S Class or 7 Series. the 500 feels more like a Panamara, Jag XJ, Audi A7 sort of car. The TTV6 in the 500 is very good, but doesnt have the big effortless feel of a V8.
I would drive them both and see what you think. I personally would not replace my LS460L with an LS500 most likely, I prefer big soft riding cars and I would go towards something like an S Class or 7 Series.

You have to drive each car, evaluate them individually and then compare notes on which car you like better. Good luck with your decision. You’ll probably get a different car in the end.

Drive both, the LS500 doesn't have a feel I like and feels heavy at very light throttle when the turbos are not in play and revs too much for my taste. Also it's small inside but extremely nice quality wise

I haven't found that to be the case, all the ones I've seen have beautiful paint

Orange peel is usually easily remedied by an excellent paint correction company. If orange peel is really an issue on the LS500 Lexus is lacking in the finishing of their cars during the cut and buff process. I look at new Mercedes all the time and I am in shock at the amount of orange peel.
