Default Side Mirror - LS 460 (2008)

Hi - please let me know if any forum members might have photos or video of a side mirror fix for a loose mirror. I'm able to get the glass mirror off, but at some point (forgot to take pics) I can't get the loose fixture pulled off (vertically). Any help or pointers would be appreciated. I've looked on YouTube and one video got me to the point I am now, but not beyond that.

This is the video that got me part of the way there:

Thanks!

Great info., but that's not quite what I need. Thank you for posting ... I'll keep it for my next "surgery" in case it helps. Do you have access to a similar drawing but a full exploded view of the mirror and how to take it off/put it on?

Thanks again, much appreciated!

Well you have to pull door panel off and reach up into inner door. Remove the 4 bolts holding in the mirror housing to door. Unplug wiring harness. Once you remove the mirror than 4 screws hold the housing on to mirror motor, etc.

maybe i'm lacking the tools but what is the easiest way to loosen the 3 hard-to-reach nuts holding the mirror to the door?
I had the door panel off and couldn't figure it out and just put the panel back.. (one clip broke )

It looks like I used a 1/4 ratchet, extension and deep well socket. Maybe a wrench too. Multiplex box needs to be unbolted and clear film pulled from door. More pictures here.

^^^ my god… how did I not find/see your post earlier during my hours of research…

okay. I thought I had to reach into the gap between the windows and body panel.. I did not know that panel had to come off completely and the module removed to access the clear plastic over..

thank you so much.. I will make another attempt next week.

on another note… after giving up on the mirror, I attempted the puddle lights… of course with my luck, the glass cracked.. I swear reading that it’s almost impossible to crack it but here we are… .. had to buy an used mirror on eBay for ~$50

after over a year, i decided to open the door panel and replace the 3 torx screw.

The crazy thing is.. the mirror was all good and tight after the fix. As I tested the folding function, the mirror has the same 1/2" inch play again.
FYI.. the folding function was not working on the mirror I torx-fixed (even before the fix). I guess the play was due to broken folding motor.
Just doesn't make sense. I don't know how they are related torx / folding / looseness, but I want 2 hours of my life back. haha.

Thanks for the update. I'm in the same boat. Our other LS mirrors won't fold either. There is a 1/2" play on both. I purchased new folding motors but haven't found the time to replace them yet.
