I got my first 2006 GS when I was 30, then the 2010 HS when I was 33. Family grew and I bought SUV only like Acura MDX and Ford Expedition. I finally got back to Lexus and got my 2016 LS460 for 40th birthday. I enjoy every moment of it.

It rides like an old fart and handles like a fat bastard but I'll put coilovers and bbk soon.
I needed the room that's why I'm in an LS.
A friend of mine already ask me where's my cane...

Lexus styling is getting geared for the younger buyer, but their tech especially in the new LS500 is cumbersome to use. So Lexus is trying to throw all this crazy tech in these new cars, but are alienating the older buyer, who typically like less complicated tech--and Lexus' is no longer the number one spot on the map as the result. Lexus needs to get back to basics in making their cars pleasurable to drive, yet comfortable to operate. And I do not like run flats in the latest gen LS, either.

Having worked for Toyota in design engineering, trust me, they know every detail about the demographics. Here's one for you. When I was with Toyota, they announced that the Celica was the vehicle that had the lowest aged buyer. Not so unexpected. But then they said that the average age was 34 years old! And everyone's jaw dropped. That was way higher than expected. The Civic average age buyer was so much lower (don't remember that number at that time). The point was that say a 24 year old buys a Civic and loves it. What vehicle brand is that 24 year old most likely to buy again if they liked their Civic? Honda, duhhhhh.
Hence Scion was born, to try to attract younger buyers in an effort to magnetize said younger buyers to the Toyota brand. Why Scion went away, I was not there for that.
As for Lexus, maybe this has been said in the thread, but younger folk buy less expensive vehicles because they generally have less money. Which puts Lexus vehicles further from most of their reach, or what they feel they can and should extend themselves to.

My hubby was introduced to his 2001 LS when his 92 yo uncle sold it to him for a steal with only 26k on it. That was 10 years ago. Still have it. When I was ready to retire my minivan driving days after my 3 kids grew up, he convinced me to look at an older LS within my price range. I wanted an SUV at the time but then I drove both. I'm convinced nothing drives smoother or quieter or comfier than this beast. So mid fourties, female and I bought a flashy red 2013 LS with UL pkg. Love it! Hubby is shopping now for the same car in his own color and feature combo. He's finally ready to upgrade with 220K on the 2001 430.

First Lexus was early 1990s LS400. I was mid 30s when I bought it. Talked my neighbor into shopping an LS400 in late 1989, he ended up buying LS number 6 sold by Lexus of West Houston by the GM he knew from a high end German dealership, he still has that along with two newer LS's he was my age when he bought it.
Second Lexus was an ES in about 2912 for my mother in law who lived with us then. Bought it used and didn't really like it.
Third and only Lexus own now is my 2014 LS460L AWD bought end of 2014 when I was 67.

I like the size and reliability of a luxury Sedan. Owned a bunch of Infiniti Q45s and their M45S but had bad luck with a 2011 M and got into SUV's when I retired for long trips to NM mountains. Still have a 2011 QX56 AWD loaded and low it. 84k miles on it and 54k miles on my 2014 LS. Love both of these big comfy flawless vehicles thus far.

That black LS460L 2014 looks so good! I wounder how hard it is to maintain such appearance...
Does LS460/L 2014 have problems with control arms, brake actuator?..

I have got to move. I have too many cars and only 2 garage spaces. My 2010 has 55k miles and it is one of the vehicles that stays in my garage. It has more dust on it than anything else. Maybe not too long from now I will move to a more rural area. I hope I can build a very large garage, and maybe even have a lift. Oh what a dream...
