Default 07 vs 13 differences in lower control arm - RWD

Ok guys let’s just get into this

we know lower control arm design for all versions of AWD. Is different it’s black probably made of steel etc looks totally different

i was looking to see if there were any differences in the RWD version.

I noticed the part number is different, according to Lexus parts now it’s not compatible with 2007, really cannot see why, from the Russian website I see a 07 guy putting on the exact same 13 arms.

one thing about the 13 arms on one side it comes with sone sort of washer. What is this why is it there and does anyone have a part number ive tried looking not much luck.

That washer is the redesigned arm and is supposed to make the control arm more durable.

Well look how terrible the 07 version is. Just a poor rubber bushing riding on that steel shaft with no support. These were replaced and they are going out again. Are the '13s confirmed same fitment/bolt in? Only problem I see is the alignment of where that arm rests. The 07 is pushed way to the side or offset. The 13 appears to be more centered.

After some research, here are my findings.

1) The steering knuckle is the same 07-17. This is good.
2) The front lower arm was revised to the black painted version, per the TSB related to knocking noise when braking. The original part numbers are 48620-59015 and 48640-59015. The revised part numbers are for the 2012+ fitment and are 48620-59035 with 59055 replacing that one and 48640-59035 with 59045 replacing that one. Based on the TSB, Lexus confirmed that 07-17 lower front arms interchange, but websites only show the new part numbers as fitting 2012+. This is the second piece of good news.
3) Lastly, while there is nothing official, the same conclusion can be said about the revised lower rear arms that only show fitment for 12-17. It's likely that they will work in all 07-17. Original 2007 part numbers are 48620-50070 and 48640-50070. The revised better bushing versions show on websites as "only" fitting 2012+ and are 48640-50131 and 48620-50131 which will likely also fit all years 07-17.

Good luck!

great good to know I’ve never heard of this tsb could you link it pls thanks, btw what’s your opinion on the awd arms? There was sone talk that the 2012 bushings are poly urethane, however ive not read it other than on Russian sites. Also I wonder how the bushing helps since it floats.

Even with this TSB some dealers will still sell you the OLD part numbers as they are still in circulation, even more so if you have a pre-2012.

I'm in the process of replacing the lower control arms on my 2008 LS, DOM of 03/08. I've found that the steering knuckle is NOT the same as stated in1) above for 07-17 LS's. I've decided to replace the lower ball joints and found there was a manufacturing change to the knuckle in 09/08. This is only of concern (in my discovery,at least) if your going to replace the lower ball joints. Pre 09/08 they are pressed in and with 09/08 and after they come in an assembly which bolts on the bottom of the knuckle. My cars' build code is USF 40L-AEZGHA, the first of 4 codes used to determine parts fit (at least) for the 07-17 LS

Yes I agree. I have a 2007 RWD and just put the revised lower arms #2 on yesterday. Part #'s 48640-50131 and 48620-50131. Same knuckle on the RWD's 07-17.
