Hey all!

I started this morning searching google and this forum. This question has been bugging me for 4 years since I bought my used 2012 LS and I'm just getting to ask this question now . Is there a way to have the heated steering automatically come on when starting the car? Using any of the following vectors?

Auto click this button by computer or other trigger?
.

1. Techstream? If so, can you change the "time to off" setting?
2. When the temperature is below 32 degrees (triggered off the outside thermostat)
3. When remote started (using Drone app)

Thanks for the link - I read through it. Summary statement: No one seems to know. A couple of things:
.

1. It looks like it's only applicable to 2013 and newer (if it does indeed work - seems to be some disagreement among some folks)
2. I found no setting in techstream
3. It's never worked on it's own when outside below 32 or 20 or 10 or whatever - those that say it 'does' work don't specify the threshold - this indicates to me we need a spec from the manual (I couldn't find it) or other authoritative source.
4. Someone said " it turns on if it is on high temp setting". I haven't tried this yet but will soon. If this does work, ok, but I doubt folks are driving around with it on 'high' all the time or remember to complete their trip by changing the climate to 'high' before shutting off the car.

If the answer is "it doesn't work", that's fine. If anyone know the specifications, how to, process, etc, I'm all ears!

Mine came on automatically yesterday but not today despite it was colder this morning.

Looks like on the 2012 models, operation of the steering wheel heating is by the ON/OFF switch on the dash (just above the driver's left knee). The heating automatically turns off after 30 minutes. There is no provision for customization or automation. Some of the later models are fancier and will heat automatically when it is cold enough.

You have to manually turn the heated steering wheel option on after started the car on my 2007. It might be different for other years. The heated/cooled seats will come on automatically depending on which direction you left the dial in when you turned off the car.
