Default Control Arm Replacements

I know this topic is covered multiple times in the forum, but I figured it couldn't hurt to have yet another thread for anyone interested to reference in the future. My 2007 LS460 with 157K miles is in need of control arms and I plan on updating this thread as I move through the process for those that are interested. My bushings have been cracked for a while, but about a week ago the driver side lower control arm #2 bushing failed completely so I am planning on changing out all 8 arms as well as the outer tie rods (and maybe the inner tie rods). By the way, my front lower control arm assemblies (#1 and #2) on both sides were replaced by the dealer under warranty by previous owner at 44K miles. The replaced lower arms now have 113K miles on them and the upper arms are original and have 157K miles of wear.

I realized that the driver side lower arm #2 bushing had failed when I noticed my steering wheel was off center by about 10 degrees to the right and steering felt sloppy. This morning I jacked up the front of the car for a complete suspension inspection and it looks like at least 6 of the 8 control arm bushings are bad (the #1 lower arms on each side seem to be in OK condition). I plan on ordering later today the LS460 RWD Core Refresh KIT from FIGS (All 8 Mevotech arms and inner and outer Mevotech tie rods with FIGS bushings pre-installed in the upper arms), but I am still researching other options and have not pulled the trigger yet. I will do my best to take pictures and update as I receive the arms and rods and complete the installations.

This is the driver side lower arm #2 bushing that failed. The arm should be positioned at the bottom of the bracket in the picture (towards rear of car), but the failed bushing has allowed the arm to shift to the opposite end of the bracket (towards front of car).

Driver side lower arm #2 bushing from a slightly different angle.

Passenger side lower arm #2 for comparison. The rear of the car is toward the bottom of the picture.

I would replace all 18 at this point, any of the originals are going to be well on their last legs

You have the worst failure that I've seen on this forum. Do not drive your car until they are replaced.

Default Same issue 2012 ls460

I have the same issue 70000 miles not as bad though. I really would like opinions from those whe have replaced theirs and what brand did you use? Improved ride or more stiff? I know OEM. but looking for personal opinions which aftermarket parts performed well.

febest failed in 4 months. Used local rubber before that also failed in 4 months. Trying local poly urethane on Monday will post a thread about it.

You need to upgrade those to the 2017 arms.

I think I will be. I was going to order the FIGS/Mevotech kit, but they are back ordered at least a couple of weeks. I may order the the 4 lower arms in your link and then get the FIGS/Mevotech for the uppers when available. Question for you LILEVO, Am I going to be doubling up on a bunch of work if I do the 4 lowers and then come back a few weeks later and do the uppers? If it is a bunch of overlap disassembly that I have to do twice I may just garage the car and wait for all parts to come in before I do anything. Please advise. Thanks,.

You can do everything independently. If you wanted to do the uppers first, second, doesn't matter. You can swap out struts as well without disturbing any arms. You could do the lowers, or just the lower front arm first. The "hardest" is the lower rear arm because you have to unbolt the steering rack.
